So, I got this idea from Landsverk96 , About Aaron's redemption arc, specifically in my upcoming A Tale of Heroes 3, which will be divided into two parts. the first part will deal with Amon, Adrestia, the Grim Reaper and the whole BE AU thingy. The second half will involve my villain deity OC, the primordial celestial god of light, Hartej.

now, at the end of the first part, Aaron was truly at his lowest point.
Even after redeeming himself, Aaron the Hedgehog was still very gloomy and depressed about what his future would hold for him… While Amon and BE Aaron were gone for good and the Misery Wolves were sentenced to life in prison, he believed and knew that he was doomed to live forever out of love, especially since his and Rouge's last interaction turned out really badly,. While he did save the world, nothing in his life would ever be the same again… His PTSD and l depression would end up consuming him from the inside out.

His symptoms of this new PTSD as well as his mental depression from all of this would involve sleeping a lot, not speaking very much, and maintaining a very sad look on his face. This worries Sally Acorn especially, considering that she was in a similar place when she suffered the same type of depression and PTSD after her Mecha Sally trauma. She realized that what she endured herself was nothing compared to what Aaron had to go through…

He suffered more so than anyone else, and he dared not to tell anyone about it due to his stubborn nature (presumably due to being raised by estranged atheist parents who then perished by the hands of the Misery Wolves in the days of his youth), and it would only get worse from there. He still felt that despite redeeming himself that it wasn’t enough to restore his reputation. Loss of appetite, lack of motivation, and a sense of uselessness were also contributing to his deteriorating state, and he often asked himself internally if anyone would even care if he were to disappear off the face of the earth one day.

He had redeemed himself, but at what cost? His reputation? Everything that he had ever loved? He couldn’t comprehend the smiling faces of the people he saves and helps, not when he previously screwed up so bad that some people would still think terribly of him even after he had slain Amon and his counterpart from the timeline Adrestia and the Grim Reaper are from… Perhaps there would still be some who knew all too well how to hold a grudge against him. Maybe they would never see that he had truly redeemed himself and changed for the better. He had broken the rules of the world (No mobians and human-like beings falling in love, in his case he was in love with Sophie), and that was one of his gravest mistakes. and for all the sins he had committed against everyone around him, he no longer hated the world or anyone in it. he hated himself, and with that self loathing, he felt that he didn’t deserve any love, sympathy or care from anyone that he met in his life as a result of that, and not only that, he also has frequent suicidal ideation, believing the world would be better off without monsters like him. He could only take so much ridicule and disappointment… He could never understand why the world he grew up in had to turn out the way it did. those are the consequences he faces which led him fall to the deepest pit of despair. he doesn't have the will to fight anymore, nor does he know what he really wants.

and when the new threat comes, (in the second part of ATOH3) in the form of a primordial celestial god of light named Hartej, that wants to burn the world to ashes, Aaron refuses to come out and fight to save the world from the new and second main antagonist, because he had enough. he was done. he felt like a nuisance, a burden, a complete utter failure. he wanted to hide himself away and let Sonic, Sophie and the others deal with Hartej themselves. More so, he’s not in love with Rouge anymore, since he breaks up with her during their last interaction that broke her heart and made her realize he wasn't the right person for her from the way he treated her. His condition is even worse than people could ever imagine…

there is this saying that goes like this:

sometimes, things have to get worse before they get better.

and that's one of the two main themes of Aaron's character arc in both parts of ATOH3. the other being what makes a monster and what makes a man.

now, there is a difference between the two main antagonists of this story is. Besides being a manifestation of Aaron the Hedgehog’s negative qualities, Amon has an insatiable propensity for conquest and domination and won’t stop until there’s nothing left. He also has a strong sense of justice and ambition, vowing to eliminate and decimate anyone and everyone who gets in his way, especially anyone who dares show kindness towards his former host.

and Hartej, being a primordial celestial god, he comes off as a false messiah type. At heart, Hartej is a cruel narcissist driven by the desire to control everything around him. Although he speaks politely and showing 'kindness' and 'compassion' to the broken hearted, that this is simply a mask that hides his true personality of a self-obsessed despot. He believes that the universe revolves around him and that everything should be a reflection of himself. he thinks himself as the god that has come to free the Universe and beyond from all their impurities with his holy light and have everyone under his control.

but at the end of the day, those two primary villains have the same trait: Any endeavor they undertake, Amon and Hartej do so for their own selfish gains, at the expense of everyone around them.

(also, the scar you see on Aaron's face is a scar given to him by the Dark Angel herself when she tortured and breaks him down prior to the final battle of the first half of ATOH3.)
