this story is based on a dream I Had last night. it's A Bayverse Optimus Prime X Elita One story based on the events of Foundation and rising storm comics.  (note: set in the original Bayverse timeline.) Consider this short story as A Valentine's day Special.

(Takes place some time before Phantoms of the Night and the third movie, Dark of the Moon! Another Decepticon hunting mission has been accomplished. Shannon,Ironhide,Sideswipe and the Arcee triplets returned to the base safe.)

Ironhide: Glad you've made it out alive,Chromia! Almost thought We were gonna lose you!

Chromia: Oh Come on, 'Hide! (playfully hits his servo) I Can tell you were worried sick about me. for such a tough strong bot, you sure do have a soft spot~

Ironhide: W-What?! No I... (His faceplates heated up a bit) Grr....Mission completed okay?

(Chromia Smirks, while Ironhide grumbled like the usual grumpy autobot he is.)

Arcee: by the way, Shan, how are your injuries?

Shannon: They're not really as bad as they were before. considering how a giant metal robot can squish the life out of a fleshy human though... -.-

(Arcee chuckled at Shan's remark.)

Shannon: but At least my armor could protect me from further damage.

Elita: ....

Shannon: 'Lita?

Elita: ...

(the moment Shannon Saved her from Shockwave flashed in her processor. her spark was almost extinguished by then...But...she was traumatized...the fear and worry gripped at her spark.)

Chromia: Sister?

Arcee: Are you alright?

(Elita turned her gaze up to her younger sisters.)

Elita: I am fine, Sisters.

Shannon: ....

(Arcee and Chromia looked at each other in concern for their older sister.)

Elita: I Just...need some time to think...

(they all watched as Elita silently drives off.)

Shannon: What...Happened? she doesn't look like herself.

(Chromia sighed.)

Arcee: She seems...afraid.

Shannon: Afraid? of what exactly?

Arcee: She almost died, Shannon. Who else wouldn't be afraid after such a traumatic scene

Shannon: ....

(Later on that night, Elita is seen sitting alone having one servo put on her forehelm, feelings of frustration coursing throughout her Spark. Little did she know, that Optimus was watching her from a distance. Optimus Sighed at the state the femme was in, he slowly made his way to her...)

Optimus: Elita?

Elita: O-Optimus??

Optimus: Something is troubling you...

Elita: I...I'm fine. really.

Optimus: I have known you for many generations. please, tell me what is it that is bothering you.

Elita: I...I almost died, Optimus. If it weren't for Shannon....I wouldn't be standing here....I...

(Optimus gazes down at the femme who began to shake a bit)

Elita: I'm...Scared...

Optimus: Elita... (slowly extends his servo and touches her shoulder)

(Elita gazes at him.)

Optimus: (turns his gaze away from her for a moment, trying to process the words he wants to say to at least bring her comfort.) I understand your fears,Elita. and I Know how much horrors you have had to witness until this day. but know that you do not have to feel alone in this war any longer...

Elita: Optimus...

Optimus: I was afraid too that day... afraid of losing you.

(She gazed at him, bringing a servo go gently caress his face plate. Optimus grew confused a bit. slowly he pulls Elita into a hug, Wrapping his big servos around her.)

Optimus: .....

Elita: I'm not going anywhere now.....as long as I'm with you.

(Optimus looks down a bit in regret.)

Optimus: Elita...I...

(Elita holds him close. Optimus felt he shouldn't hold back what he wants to say to her. he could not keep his feelings bottled in. so He put a servo around the back of her helm.)

Optimus: I'm Sorry...

Elita: Optimus....

Optimus: the final battle on Cybertron.... (turns his gaze from her) I was weak...foolish... I believed settling scores with Megatron on my own for vengeance would help us win the war...and yet I chased away that hope of winning any time soon. I pushed everyone away that time...you, Ironhide, I have no excuse for my drastic actions back then. How you and the others had to watch as I was tearing through every Decepticon in the way to get to Megatron... I'm deeply sorry for causing you so much pain.

(Elita's gaze turned to one of sorrow.)

Optimus: and what you, Arcee and Chromia have had to Endure in Cybertron after We left must have added more to the pain you felt in your spark.

Elita: Seeing you in such a state....was the worst of all. I care about the Autobots, my sisters but you mostly. and it hurts...to see you like that.

Optimus: Elita...

Elita: Optimus...you mean so much to me...

Optimus:  Likewise, you mean a lot to my spark. I Do not wish to ever leave you again like that. you are one of the main reasons I am here now. yet I do not know How can I make up for the many mistakes I have committed....

Elita: (moves her servo towards his chin, causing Optimus to gently gaze at her) By being here....With me.

(Optimus gazed down at the femme, and gently ran his digits across her face. Elita softly smiled at him. The Prime moved closer and Kissed her forehelm. Elita sighed softly, she had missed such affection. Primus, it has been ages.)

Optimus: Elita... I....

(Optimus sighed sadly and turns his gaze away, looking down. unsure of how Elita would respond. until he felt her servo on his faceplate. She gently caressed his cheek plate. the prime's cheek plates became warm a bit as he gently held her servo.)

Elita: You don't have to feel sorry for anything....

(Optimus turns his gaze towards Elita.)

Elita: Optimus, We already forgave you...I have forgiven you.

(Optimus had a small smile, and then takes notice of Elita's lip plates gently pressed against his own. his Optics widen a bit in surprise and confusion as his frame stiffened a little...w-what is this? what was she...? He has seen moments like that before between humans. mostly seeing Sam and Mikaela sharing a kiss. he calmed down and slowly closed his optics, returning the kiss. two bots craving for affection were finally together. Elita was such a beautiful femme with a gentle yet fearless personality. Optimus was so strong, brave, wise and the list could go on. the war tore them both apart, Optimus cared for his fellow autobots. yet Elita was always so special. beneath her fierce nature, there was something about her that seemed so...A word that he couldn't quite put his digit on. after all that had happened, He and Elita were finally brought together. would she have died by the hands of Shockwave, he would truly be devastated to the core. the thought of losing her broke his spark. Elita would never leave him and that was a promise. Optimus pulled away a bit gazing at Elita as her forehelm touched his own. his digit rubbing her face plate.)

(Optimus gently nuzzled her helm in response. Elita smiled as she felt every worry wash away. and So did Optimus feel every bit of regret he held in his Spark fading into nothingness. he then kissed the side of her helm affectionately. Elita smiled in response.)

Optimus: Elita...

Elita: Yes, my love?

Optimus: I Want to thank you, for all that you have done for us. for what you have done for me...

(Elita gazed at him, smiling warmly. Optimus smiled, rubbing her cheek plate. she had such a beautiful warm gaze. She finally found peace, she was finally with her mech. Optimus wanted to ensure her safety, yet he felt worried.)

Optimus: What if...what if something happens to you...because of me?

Elita: Optimus...

Optimus: I...do not wish for you to get hurt again, Elita. I will never be able to forgive myself if you do.

Elita: (shuffled closer to him) I Know you will always come back for me. I really do.

(Optimus noticed Elita placing a kiss on his cheek plate causing his systems to purr)

Elita: My Prime~

(Optimus' face heated up. In response He nuzzles her helm gently. He missed this feeling for a long time...he missed...her.)

Optimus: You are a fierce and beautiful femme, I do not think I deserve such kindness from you.

Elita: You're such a strong and brave mech, I admire you In more ways than one, I never thought I would deserve to be loved by a mech such as yourself .

Optimus: Even if we are at a time of war, I wish to spend our moments together... (He gently strokes her cheek) My beloved...

(Elita held his servo. )

Elita: I cherish every moment we spend together.

(Optimus slightly chuckles, and Elita noticed it...)

Elita: Did you just?

Optimus: What...? (his optics widen in realization and looks down in embarrassment. the Strong and Mighty Optimus Prime just let out a laughter for the first time since Ages!)

Elita: (chuckled) It's okay~

Optimus: I.... (his face heated up from total embarrassment. Elita knew that a bit of his old self still existed within his Spark.)

Elita: You still have that tiny spark of Orion in you.

(Optimus gazed back at Elita with those innocent looking Optics, that really reminded her of Orion.)

Optimus: Perhaps my old self still exists within me.

Elita: I can see that~

(Optimus smiled warmly. he then allows Elita to snuggle close to his massive chest. Elita held him close, and Optimus Had his servo around the back of her helm, holding her close to himself. The two embraced each other.)

Optimus: I Need you, Elita...more than you could ever think.

(Elita's faceplates heated up in response. )

Elita: So do I, my love.

(Optimus gently lifts her helm so he can gaze into her optics)

Optimus: Elita....I....

Elita: Yes?

Optimus: I love you...  (he then leaned closer and gently kissed her.)

(Elita held him close as she returned the Kiss. Optimus Felt his Spark warm up inside the metal coverings of his chest. His love for Elita one brightening inside. and Elita in turn loved Optimus so much. Primus, he had missed such feelings for countless of ages for someone. especially for someone like Elita.)

Elita: (pulls back) I love you too,Optimus Prime.  And I will never leave you.

(the Prime held her close and cuddles her. and with that, they spent the night of togetherness with one another, which could possibly be one of the very few moments they'd share, before the war with the Decepticons could go on to a much higher level than before.)
