I think I have just about got the hang of the new actionscript, I'm sure there are cleaner ways to do this but just making something that works is good enough for my first experiment

As basic as this is, the motion looks really good. Everything seems to move so smoothly. Definitely a good jumping-off point.

How different is AS3? I got so used to 2.0, and how alike it was to php and javascript...it's like with 3.0, I need to learn an entirely new language (java-like, right?)....
Comments on it? I'd like to know if it's a good choice to switch :3

I got the Adobe Flash 9 Public Alpha and I couldnt figure out how to use the new features in 3.0 actionscript because i dont know what they are

mostly the difference is that events handling is well... completely different, and a few methods seem to have been ditched but replaced with cooler ones

You ought to turn this into a screensaver. There's a tool somewhere on the interweb to make .swfs screensavers, and with a slightly more automated ball this would work great
