done because people were asking and I wanted to help out...that and this episode of red dwarf is taking forever to download...
keep in mind that these tones can be cool with practice, but if you just use them as they are and dont touch up your image a little its like buying a gobstopper thats sevral miles wide, sure its filled with goodness, but no one will be able to taste it.
also its important to point out that dithering by hand will almost always make for a much cooler look, but if you just want to tone stuff this will do the trick.
I am also a point out its possible to take these tones and use them as patterns in photoshop (as demonstrated by the background and arrows in the tut)

lol, I had deluxe paint on the amiga, and untill paint can do animations it can only ever be second to it lol

Wow.. awesome! Somehow I can't help but be reminded of being a youngin playing around with Paint and doing just this. Though I lost this skill.. and now you've revived it and brought back memories.
