Keep in mind that this DeviantArt account is solely for my FiM-related pony art. Besides that, I make educational illustrations (primarily zoological) for science textbooks/websites and the like. I enjoy drawing ponies and I enjoy making 'serious' art as well. I agree that artists should be versatile, but don't discount fan-related works. Since starting Dash Academy, I've learned a tremendous amount about both digital art and comic-making. Those skills carry over to my scientific illustrations and whatever else I create. I don't see the things I learn from making fan-art as any less valid than the things I've learned from doing life drawing or scientific art. I get enjoyment out of making art regardless of the topic.

it's not really art if it's someone else's. She's just drawing horses repeatedly and she will never improve.

You know, someone can really improve drawing something it repeatedly. Take a beginning cartoonist, for example, he draws basic shapes over and over until she gets it right.

But this person is imitating another persons style. And she doesn't step out of her comfort zone. All she draws is ugly colorful horses.

Really beautiful colors and great sense of atmosphere! I don't know if she's supposed to be be falling, as the title seems to suggest, but because her the position of her hair is relatively neutral, she looks static at the moment, like she's floating or suspended. If you wanted her to look more like she's plummeting, you could have her hair streaming straight upward from her head to emphasize the speed & danger of her fall. nice work!
