Description
If Star Wars is an addiction, then the X-Wing is my drug of choice. I was goofing around with some fan fiction and decided to design my own advanced X-Wing.First I improved the cockpit, allowing greater visibility in all directions, as well as enclosing the droid socket. I streamlined the engine nacelles and made the wings more aerodynamic. This I blended to the newly sculpted fuselage.
This fighter, the Xi-35 Lightning, is the latest mount of the top aces of the galaxy. I have a technical illustration as well. The markings for this one is, again, Twin Suns, in the service of the Galactic Alliance Remnant.

GodDAMN. Now THAT is a sleek X-Wing variant.
And, personally, I'd leave the ion cannons in... that little extra bit of versatility can't hurt.

Nice work! Definitely a ship the Mandalorians would love to have in their arsenal, provided of course they have the credits to buy one.

tthat's a pretty good job, I like your design
Also I'd be curious to see a front view and a back view, to see how you imagined the air entry and the reactors

Β This would be a fine successor to the X-83 TwinTail. And I'd change to optional slugthrowers to magnetically accelerated slugthrowers. You know, a little something special for that extra punch.

This is an awesome design (same goes for your technical illust. as well).
I once toyed around with some design blueprints of a custom T-65 back in HS (in technical drawing shop of all places lol) and this is without a doubt one of the best fan-made variants on the X-Wing I've seen
Would love to see a recon variant at some point like the T-65BR

Errr.... Machine Guns? In the Star Wars universe? I know they have slug-thrower type weapons but they are aging weapons only used by backwater planets. Also not to mention Incom became FreiTek or something like that after the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic. My two cents. Other then that I love this fighter.

Well, first, the machine guns is just my idea. In the movies you see the lasers being trained on the targets, and even converging. I figure why not have something physically hitting the target. Two-for-one punch if fired together. Whatever, the guns were for fun. Like 'em, love 'em; I don't care. I felt like I needed 'moar dakka' on the fighter, and I like variety. As for Incom becoming FrieiTek, Wookieepedia says that it was founded by defecting Incom people. Incom was later nationalized by the Empire (maybe that should be imperialized?) and continued to build things. The X-83 TwinTail and CF9 Crossfire of the Fel Insurgency period are built by Incom. I would say this makes FreiTek a derivative company, not a successor. Not that it really matters.
I wanted a better X-Wing, so I drew it. I'm a sucker for tradition, so I claimed Incom built it. I'm a fan of classic dogfighting, so I gave it guns.
Maybe soon I'll get the other two images of this version (an updated Twin Suns and a Rogue) posted. They need some cleaning first.
Thanks for the critique.

Your welcome. I forgot about Incom being taking over by the Empire after the Rebellion stole the X-Wing. Not mention I believe Incom made the I-7 Howlrunner for the Empire. Also I deem seem to remember that Frietek and Incom joined together again after the peace treaty between the Republic and the Imperial Remnant. Anyways I need to get off my soap-box.

Yeah. It's just an MS Paint image, so, by all means. I'd love to see her in some black and crimson (or any other color scheme for that matter). If you'd rather, I can upload the blank template just as soon as I get back on a computer with Paint. There's some clean up to do first. That way, if anyone else wants, there a ready-to-modify version available. Have fun!
