90% was done cold. A bit of work on the couters needed to be done hot, however, now that I think about it I think I did one hot and one was completely cold.

Ah, the pattern starts as a cone with an overlapping joint riveted together on the inside. This is how the originals were done as well although they would braze the joint in addition to a rivet.

Sure, basically looks kinda like the letter "Y". Play with paper to figure out the right pattern size for you too. I'll see if i can find my pattern and get a pic for you though.
