I was watching a documentary a few weeks back about twins where these 8 year old boys, sometimes they like slept together hugging and the mom said that it's how they were in the womb and that ... it's like they are more calm like that and i was like wat the fuck that is so interesting, so I wanted to draw my twins being super close yet super calming. Twins r so strange, like on another level ya know.Mei and Zhou are both like ... mentally unstable in one way or another. Wouldn't it be nice to have a safe space where you could just sleep? Kinda what I wanted to explore.

Ah I can somewhat relate to this-
i have always shared a room with my younger sister, and shared a bed for most of my childhood years (since we were around 2-3 to when we were 9-10) and people would say (and still say) that we look really identical, and it was always pretty peaceful sleeping beside her and lol when we were scared of the dark we would hug each other tight and pray that a monster won’t eat us.
I still share a room with her, and on my really bad days I just cuddle her and it’s always so peaceful and calming. Idk, we are seriously close despite constantly fighting :’)
but I think it’s because we were really close(?) both physically and emotionally.

Thank you! And yes, I assumed people would mistaken them as lovers with how close they are. But that's alright, I think if people don't realize that they are twins it's cool too. People see their own interpretations in my art and I don't anticipate everybody would read it heh. As long as they like it.
Also I think you interpreting them as lovers is valid because like ... I imagine that they are strictly platonic (ofc) but they are almost uncomfortably close in moments like these, but again, not a sexual thing, just a ... having somebody to comfortably be around kinda thing.

I suppose part of the reason they look like lovers to those unfamiliar with the characters is because they’re fraternal twins rather than identical. Regardless it’s still an adorable pic with them being twins that are really close emotionally.

Aha they are identical twins, but they changed a lot and took their own way of dressing and styling themselves now a days. But they have the same face shape, the same eyes and nose. Both of them need glasses but only one of them actually wears one. One of them is studious while the other does physical labor, so there's a more obvious change in their bodies in their adult years.
