How much of this is useful information and how much of this is "guardsmen's uplifting primer" (toilet paper)

Two things I want to point out:

1. I don't think physical blows can get through Aura; from what I saw in Qrow vs. Tyrion it looked like more of a combination of surprise and the fact that Aura doesn't block pain.

2. Considering the sheer number of different Grimm species I'd imagine Huntsmen are trained to be as versatile as possible since each species has different attributes and tactics.

And one more thing, though this is a bit of a personal issue; the beginning of this sheet was a bit too close to a "deconstruction bashing" for my liking. Again, personal preference but it is something I've been worried about in this AU.

1:In the Tyrian fight, Ruby's aura was flickering after only Three hits (one of which glanced off Crescent Rose) and it went down entirely at Nine hits. As we've seen, while Aura may prevent injury, the person hit can still feel pain. Pain is disorienting, and disorientation is to the attacker's advantage.Β

2:From what I've seen of Grimm fights, our heroes tend to use the same tactics for each (Yang certainly does, though that's down to the limitations of her weapons) which overall involves a lot of stabbing, slashing and kinetic damage.
and frankly the only thing i've noticed is that in the earlier seasons with more Grimm fights, our heroes seem to discover the ability to fly XD

3:it's part training manual, part Propaganda rag. it's supposed to be insulting, and inspired by such things as the Guardsmen Handbook from Warhammer 40K, which downplays the threat of aliens and actually says you can survive being blown into space by holding your breath.

I DO like to point out that the bog-standard Atlas Rifles in V2 kill Grimm as handily as the Huntsmen weapons, which gives rise to the likelihood that other firearms are equally effective unless the plot intervenes.Β

but i do see where you're coming from, which was one of the reasons why i scrapped the project this was part of. I just thought people might get a kick out of how the NP portrays the Huntsmen.Β

1. Ok, I miss interpreted the meaning to be that unarmed blows were somehow more effective than using a weapon, though I suppose that would make sense since this is kinda satirical.

2. I'd imagine that slashing and kinetic damage are a requirement against Grimm since they have natural armor. The limitations of weapons is also another point to consider since it dictates how you can fight an what moves you can use, which is why I tend to have my characters use very simplistic weapons.

3. I figured as much, I just wanted to be sure. Is there any place I can see that Imperial Guard Handbook online.

I'll agree that firearm effectiveness is likely plot based; I remember a scene near the end of vol. 3 where Coco opened fire on an Ursa and it wasn't instantly deleted from existence.

It was definitely a funny page (though it's going to get a lot of NP soldiers killed) the only reason I said anything is because I've seen too many stories that go downhill because an author can't separate their opinions from their writing.

"So, I take it that these kindergarten lessons were informative, yes?"

"Sir, yes, sir!"

"What's with the weak-ass voices, you fuckwits in a library or something? SOUND OFF LIKE YOUR BALLS ARE IN A VICE!"

"SIR YES SIR!"

"OUM DAMN, now that's the shit that gives men boners! Gather around, because I'm about to add more lessons you for you idiots to remember. These tools and tactics are fine and dandy, but they're worth jack shit if you don't build upon 'em. Lesson number one: Lead the Target! Most hunters are fast, and the ones that aren't are quick on their feet, so they're not going to sit around and wait nicely for you to raise your guns, center your sights, and give you a clean shot. No, they're gonna be moving! To close the distance between them and you! And when they do, your nerves are gonna want you to shoot where you see 'em! But if you do that, all you'll do is hit nothing but dust clouds. So don't shoot where they are, but instead use your brains and shoot where they're going to be. Then your bullets will have a better chance of getting bull's eyes. Even if they don't, they'll force the hunters to change direction mid-attack and lose their momentum, giving you a better chance of picking them off. Keep in mind the distance between you two. The farther they are, the farther ahead you'll have to shoot in front of 'em. Y'all got that?"

"Sir, yes, sir."

"You know, I think we have a huntsman in our midst, seeing as y'all quiet enough to be dead. YOU FUCKERS STILL ALIVE OR WHAT!?"

"SIR YES SIR!"

"OH GOODIE, THEY'RE NOT DEAD, IT'S A FUCKING MIRACLE! Now lesson number two: Prioritize your targets! When the hunters come after you in battle, they're gonna come after our commanders first. Officers, squad leaders, the fucking kiddie scout masters, the whole sha-bang! But that sword cuts both ways: hunters work in packs, and every pack has an alpha, and if you pay attention, you can find the alpha. Look for the one barking orders, the one giving the most hand signals, and when once you find him, light him up like a Heaven's Day tree! The rest will either scatter like cowards or charge at you like dumb brutes, all in disarray! And a disarrayed target is an easy target! Pretty interesting stuff, ey?"

"SIR YES SIR!"

"You're Oum damn right, I'm the life of the party. And finally, lesson number three: Don't be afraid to give your enemies an opening. Now, I see you're all looking at me like dumbasses, so let me dumb it down in a way you all can understand. Truly cornering an animal and giving them no escape can backfire spectacularly, especially when said animal decides to make an emergency exit by clawing one through your abdomen. But give them a bit of hope, no matter if it's false or how small it is, and your hunter will take it. The hunter will keep fighting for hope, even go in circles chasing it, wearing himself down until nothing is left. Once he has nothing left, he is yours to take out at your own leisure..."

Aye

And I have to say, the example of a hunter weapon is far funnier than it has any right to be.
