Description

Astarael sighed as he walked, dragging his hooves through the grass. When he had left the herd to search for something exciting, Desvelado had eventually found him and brought him back home. His mother had initially been overjoyed at seeing him...until her anger took over. Ever since his misadventure, he’d had to stay within the main herd like a newborn foal, constantly surrounded by the adults as punishment. He wasn’t allowed to wander or join the geldings and he was miserable. Looking up as he sulked, he saw his two young half-siblings rearing and bucking, laughing and calling out to each other.

”Hey...what’re you guys doing?” Astarael asked, tilting his head.

”We’re playing stallions!” Avery chirped happily as she reared up, boxing at her twin’s head.

”Yeah, and I’m winning!” Jensen snorted, backing away from his sister’s onslaught.

Suddenly Avery whirled around with a gasp and charged Astarael, surprising him. She skidded to a stop and looked up at him with her huge eyes.

”Please play with us, Asta!” she whined. ”You never play with us!”

”Yeah!” Jensen chimed. ”Please, please, please?”

Astarael smiled down at his brother and sister. If he was grounded, he might as well try to enjoy himself.

”Alright, alright. But I don’t want to hurt you guys…” he said uncertainly.

”Oh, don’t worry! Me and Jensen are gonna be the stallions and you’ll be the mare we’re fighting over! Hiyah!” Avery giggled, nipping at Jensen.

The young cold squealed and danced away with a buck. Soon both foals were laughing and yelling insults at each other, trying to win the “mare’s” favor. Astarael shook his head with a laugh and pranced around with his tail in the air.

”Oh, my! How ever will I choose between you two?” he wailed in his highest falsetto.

Maybe being grounded wasn’t so bad after all.
