Description
A roleplay between sourlemonfox and warpugs featuring our characters Fleetwood and Elsie for----------
warpugs said the following:
The tall female Saluki padded gracefully through her large house, head held high but expression a bit dull. She was making sure everything was in place. Not too long ago had the wretched Dragon arrived in her home and everything had been turned upside down. He much preferred to be called Fleetwood, but she thought the name his little girl had given him far more fitting. He was carefree, messing up her perfect little house however he pleased, and not to mention oblivious. A little too oblivious because any bitter jabs she sent his way seemed to bounce right off of him and he just continued on merrily. It was mildly infuriating. Of course, she put on a good face for her Madam, as she was a well-trained girl after all, but once her Madam left so did her good manners.
She reached the living room and hopped atop the ottoman, quickly laying down and letting her fore-paws dangle over the edge as she rested her head down, glaring off into the distance as she awaited the arrival of the beast to ruin her day once more.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood's tail had been twitching in anticipation but when Elsie finally came into the living room his rump lifted in the air and wiggled excitedly. He restrained himself and held his breath, waiting for her to settle down. She had that same dull expression on her face he was growing used to. Well, he could fix that!
Once she was comfortably on the ottoman he jumped out from behind the chaise lounge with a shout of "GOTCHA!" and pounced atop her, wrapping her front paws around her front and grabbing one of her ridiculously fluffy ears between his teeth.
Growling playfully he tugged at her ear as his tail wagged erratically, back paws scrambling to stay on the ottoman that two dogs were never meant to fit on.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie yelped as she felt force upon her back, and worse yet slobber and chewing on her ear. "Oh, you vile beast!" She exclaimed, eyes narrowing further as she scrambled away from him. "You'll mess up my fur!" The skin on her nose and lips wrinkled up as she let out discontented growls, pulling herself out from beneath Dragon.
She stopped only once she was across the room and she spun around to glare at him lividly. Why had her Madam agreed to allow this positively savage beast into their home?
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood allowed himself to be growled and beaten away with a giddy laugh. "Aw, c'mon Elsie!" he whined, pawing at the air to her imploringly. "Let's play! It's so boring around here when Louise is at school."
His ears drooped as he was reminded of missing his little girl but he quickly recovered and bounced across the room to Elsie, rearing up on his hind paws to land on her shoulders, nipping at her fluffy ears again.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Play? With him? Elsie rolled her eyes and lifted her head into the air regally, looking down at Dragon. As he sidled up beside her and reared up onto his hind legs to further torment her she again attempted to pull away. "Don't touch me, you mongrel!" She harumphed away from him, walking to the entryway of the room and promptly sitting down, using a paw to preen at her ears. "Listen, I won't play with you but perhaps I will race you in the yard." She looked over to him. "But just once and if I do this you will leave me alone for the rest of the day."
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood was impervious to the barbs Elsie was blatantly throwing his way. The only thing he took away from her anger was that she was willing to race him in the yard. He spun in a tight circle of excitement and was momentarily distracted by his own tail. Luckily he was well endowed with such a long and overly fluffy tail that he quickly snapped it up between his jaws and smiled over at Elsie.
"Aushum!" he yelled around his tail. He released it and bounced to Elsie, prancing circles around her before charing to the back door and leaping into the fresh air, landing and rolling in the new spring grass. "Come on, slowpoke!" he howled back at his new sister.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Dolt. was all Elsie could think as she watched this new brother of hers chase and catch his own tail. She heaved another sigh and padded after him, following him out the back door into their large yard. She smiled as she felt the sun hit her face. There was still a bit of a chill in the air, but the sun made her almost forget about it. The snow had melted quickly and it was nice to see some green in that yard of hers.
She hopped down to the grass to stand beside Dragon. "Now, where shall we race to?" She questioned, raising a brow as she surveyed the yard, letting him decide how the race would be run.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood righted himself again, albeit awkwardly, and immediately pounced on Elsie again, this time snapping at her flowing tail. Remembering why they were out here in the first place he hopped away and craned his neck in every direction as he thought of the race plan.
"OK! How about three laps around the whole yard! We'll start here-" he used one paw to scrape a crooked line in the mud, "and whoever runs over it three times first wins!" He looked up at Elsie with ears perked and quivering, beyond excited.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie grimaced as he began to snap at her beautiful, flowing tail and side-stepped away from him. When he finished stating how the race would be run she decided to add, "And no touching. We want a clean race here." She glared over at him before padding up to the line he had made. "I suppose I'll call it!"
She looked ahead of them and around the yard, following the route with her eyes. "On the count of three... One... Two..." She glanced down at Dragon, preparing herself to run. "Three!" She surged forward after she had said it, long legs propelling her. If there was one physical outdoor activity that she did love, it was racing.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood happily wriggled his rear, waiting for Elsie to count to three. He missed the number, too excited to pay attention, but assumed the race began when Elsie leapt forward. With a howl he quickly followed, already left far behind the saluki. A forceful breeze bit at his skin and flushed out a flock of blackbirds that went cawing overhead. Fleetwood's head snapped up to watch their dark wings and managed to trip over his own front legs, sending himself sprawling tail-over-head into the slushy yard.
Fur covered in mess and nose filled with mud, he sat himself up-right, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he panted. Leaping to his feet he tried to shake himself off as he got back into the race with a bark.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie was enjoying the race when she noticed Dragon was no where to be seen around her. She turned her head back and saw him sprawled in the mud and she rolled her eyes with a shake of her head, smiling bemusedly. He always managed to make a clumsy mess of himself one way or another. She slowed her pace a bit as she waited for him to jump back into the race and once he had she turned her attention back to her course. She weaved through the tall trees that lined the back of the yard as she went, being sure to leap over any puddles of mud that the melting snow had caused. So far, she was managing to stay fairly clean!
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood attempted weaving through the trees and shrubs as gracefully as Elsie and thought he was doing a fine job. He'd only managed to snap off a few branches and gotten some brambles and who-knew-what-else stuck in his fur. Stumbling over a decorative bush he nearly fell face first back into the mud but managed to keep his footing. Finally he crossed the finish line for the first time and barked in triumph.
"I'm catching up, El!" he barked happily before promptly running into a tree with a 'oomph'.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie glanced back again as he ran into a tree. El? She thought bitterly. What kind of nickname is that? After this race I'm going to have to fix tha- Her thoughts were cut off as she began to slip in a patch of mud. With a shriek she began scrambling until she landed on some grass and regained her footing. She looked down to her mud-covered paws with a horrified look before looking back to see where Fleetwood was. Even in her muddied state she couldn't let him win! Surely he would just hang something like that over her head for days until he forgot about it and she couldn't have that.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood shook his head violently after the tree collision, ears flapping against his head. They perked up at Elsie's shriek and he saw her slip in the mud. Eyes widening in excitement he quickly scrambled to his feet and charged off the race course, heading straight for Elsie.
With a battle cry of "MUD BATTLE!" he leapt into the air, soaring like an eagle, and landed heavily in the muddiest part of the yard, sending showers of filth in all directions. Rearing up with playful growls he hopped toward Elsie on his back legs and pounced.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie heard his battle cry and with another look of horror began a mad dash for the house. "Madam will be furious! Stay away!" She cried, knowing that his mud-covered heap of fur leaping towards her had already sprayed her pelt with mud. She stood on the patio, pawing and whining furiously at the door, hoping someone would hear and let her inside.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Face-planting after missing Elsie, Fleetwood rose again like a phoenix, blazing in his mud covered glory, and roared comically. "There is no escape from the Mud Monster!"
Zeroing in on his prey he crouched, butt wiggling in the air, before charging with a triumphant yell. He'd only laid one filthy, mud covered paw on Elsie's head before the sound of the gate being opened drew his attention.
Seconds later a high pitched cry of "DRAGON!" was enough to send him scrambling and sprawling away from Elsie with an excited whine. Louise, his little girl, was running toward him, back pack forgotten on the ground. He jumped all around her, barking and whining and getting them both even dirtier as she girl shrieked happily.
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie couldn't help but cower against the door, while still scratching and whining to be let in, as she heard Dragon approach. She squealed as she felt a muddied paw slap against her perfectly primped ear and clenched her eyes shut in anticipation for more when suddenly the beast was called away from her. Oh thank goodness for that child.
The door was finally flung open and Elsie looked up to see her Madam staring down at the dogs disapprovingly. "I guess it's bath time for everyone!" She beckoned for Louise and the dogs to come to her. Of course, Elsie was standing right at her Madam's feet, staring up at her pleadingly.
----------
sourlemonfox said the following:
Fleetwood continued yipping and barking in joy at his Little Girl's return until the Lady of the house called out it was time for bath. With ears perked he happily skipped back to the sliding door, Little Girl giggling at his side. He was about to run right into the house when he remembered his manners.
"Elsie, I remember what you said about trailing mud into the house!" he exclaimed happily.
Before anyone could react and save themselves, Fleetwood crouched and began to shake out his fur, starting from his head and reverberating through his body. His jowls slapped against each other and he could feel the mud and water and slush flying off of him in great waves. Elsie would be so proud!
----------
warpugs said the following:
Elsie thought she was finally saved, almost cowering at the side of her Madam just envisioning how lovely a warm bath would be after this disaster of an outing, when she heard Dragon's voice beside her. From that point on, it was as if everything were happening in slow motion. She turned with a horrified look to see just what he was up to when she, and her Madam as well as Louise, were splattered with mud from the clod of a dog. All she could manage was a horrified and angry screech once he had finished and she glared up at her Madam.
Her Madam, for whatever reason, didn't seem to be quite as horrified as Elsie. She seemed almost amused. Almost. "Right. Bath time." Was all she said as she grabbed ahold of both of the dogs and directed them inside and straight to the bath.
