Description
Role play between sourlemonfox and warpugs. Characters are Rikki and Evita.

sourlemonfox said the following:

The air was warm as a breeze ruffled the thick fur lining his neck. Nose to the ground, he created small dust clouds with every exhale as walked slowly in his search. Aha! Finally he'd caught the rancid, musk heavy scent of the fox's cache. With a snort of triumph he used his large front paws to move the earth and excavate his prize. It didn't take long before he was able to pull the relatively-fresh body of a large rabbit out of the dirt, it's eyes milky and decaying in death. Rikki's ear twitched and he looked up to see the fox standing a little ways away behind a bush, hackles bristling as she witnessed her meal being stolen. Rikki's lip curled up and he growled softly, licking his chops. The fox needed no other incentive to turn tail and disappear among the trees. With another snort he dipped his head down and snapped up the rabbit, it's body hanging limply from his jaws, as he turned and walked away.

warpugs said the following:

A female wolf of varying shades of brown sprang through the tall grass of a field, letting out a 'huff' each time her front paws landed on the ground. Her tail bounced behind her as she went, making her way to a section where the ground rose up a bit so she could get a better view of the area. She stopped and stood completely still once she reached this point and let the breeze gently blow through her fur. She closed her eyes and began sniffing the air, taking in scents. She opened one eye and smirked as she caught the smell of a fox and a rabbit. Her stomach began to remind her how hungry she was as it grumbled. When WAS the last time she had eaten? She had gotten so caught up in exploring this new area.
She turned the direction the scent was coming from and began to lope in that direction. Only upon growing even closer did she catch the scent of another wolf. She slowed a bit, growing a bit more cautious. Her ears swiveled back for a moment as she debated whether to turn back or not, but she had not seen another wolf on her journey in quite a long time and curiosity got the best of her. She picked up her pace again and didn't stop until she could see the wolf in the distance. She faltered and stopped when she saw the sheer size of the brute. She didn't think she had ever seen such a large wolf in her life. She tilted her head to the side curiously.

Rikki stopped and his ears pricked forward as a small she-wolf broke onto his path. His tail swished and twitched behind him before lying flat. After a moment's deliberation he continued walking toward the strange wolf, bright golden eyes unblinking. He stopped a few paces from her and dropped the rabbit as his feet, pushing it forward with a paw.
"Here. You look like you need it more than me." he said blandly matter-of-fact.
With a huff he began to turn and leave.

warpugs said the following:

Evita blinked as he came towards her, ears pricked forward. She raised her brows in surprise and looked from him to the rabbit after he had dropped it. Almost as quickly as he had come, he was walking away again. She watched him walk away for a moment before calling out to him. "Hey! Wait!" She scooped the rabbit up in her mouth and bounded after him. As she caught up with him she slowed her pace to match his and turned to look at him. "Why don't we share?" Her voice came out a bit muffled between the rabbit and she attempted to grin at him.

Rikki blinked as the female bounded after him, taking a small step away from her despite himself. At her offer to share the meal he couldn't help but tilt his head, eyes looking at her quizzically.
"Alright." he agreed.
Almost gingerly, he reached his muzzle down and grabbed the rabbit's head between his carnasials and with a little twist and snap, lifted his head back up, teeth crunching away at the juicy rabbit skull.
"Thanks..." he said awkwardly around his small mouthful.

warpugs said the following:

Evita dropped the rabbit once he had decapitated it, looking back to him and closing her eyes with a smile and a nod before hunching over the rabbit's carcass and tearing into it. She didn't look up at him again until she had finished, licking any excess blood off of her muzzle. She sat back on her haunches and eyed him with a half-smile for a moment before speaking, "Where are my manners? I go and steal your meal without even introducing myself. I'm Evita." She bowed her head slightly to him.

After a moment's hesitation he nodded his head in return to her. "Rikki."
Suddenly feeling self conscious he sat back on his haunches as well, tail wrapping around to cover his feet. He regarded the she-wolf for a moment more before asking, "You're not from the Blutwald pack?"
The question came out more like a statement as the question really answered itself. While they were relatively near to the Blutwald pack's territory line he hadn't seen any members come this far out on their own.

warpugs said the following:

"Lovely to meet you, Rikki." Evita responded, shifting her weight.
As he spoke again she looked around curiously as if a wolf from this pack would pop out of the trees or bushes. She turned back to him and responded with a small chuckle, "No, I don't belong to any pack." Then after a few seconds pause, "Are you of this pack then?"
She had not smelled other wolves on him so she doubted he was, but he had sounded quite sure that she wasn't apart of this pack that she was uncertain as to his status. She tilted her head to the side curiously, awaiting a response.

"No, I've never belonged to a pack." he replied with a small huff.
It had been a long time since he'd tried conversing with another wolf. He was clearly rusty. Normally this wouldn't bother him but he hadn't even seen another wolf in...he wasn't sure. He couldn't help but want to interact with one now.
But before he could open his mouth to say something else his stomach let out a low whine. His ears immediately flattened against his skull and he quickly looked away from the other wolf and huffing again.

warpugs said the following:

"Hm. Interesting..." She replied and before she could say more heard his stomach. "Are you still hungry?" She began to feel bad again for stealing his meal and her ears fell back slightly, an almost concerned look on her face.

"Don't worry about it." he grumbled.
Looking up at the sky he sniffed the air, trying to decide what to do next. He hadn't had much luck hunting so far. He was big, and that wasn't always a good thing. Especially when he was trying to be stealthy. With a grumble and a huffed sigh he stood again and started to walk away.
"It was nice meeting you, Evita." he said over his shoulder.

warpugs said the following:

Again, she watched him go. She contemplated following him and offering to catch him something this time, but something about his body language threw her off. He was a very peculiar and gruff brute. He also had what appeared to Evita to be a certain sadness and loneliness about him. She caught herself frowning over this, brows furrowed, and quickly shook her head to return to her normal, carefree self. No need to get herself all worried about a stranger.
"Seeya around, I guess..." She called after him with a smile of uncertainty on her muzzle. She hopped up and swiftly turned in the opposite direction and began loping away.
