Description Wooo! another of my favourite guys. ah, i remember when they had two wounds and were 33pts each...
made two psychic powers, the rituals, just for these guys, to make them stand out a bit more.

Thousand Sons
Troops
25pts each
Size: 5 - 20
Type: Infantry

Options:
One Thousand Son must be upgraded to an Aspiring Sorcerer for +30pts

The Aspiring Sorcerer must take one of the psychic powers from the list below, and may take a second:
Doombolt for free
Ritual of Smiting for free
Ritual of Warding for free
Warptime for +10pts
Wind of Chaos for +15pts
Bolt of Tzeentch for +25pts

The Aspiring Sorcerer may swap his Bolt Pistol for a Plasma Pistol for +10pts

One model in the unit may take an Icon of Chaos for +15pts

If the unit numbers 10 models or less, it may take a Chaos Rhino or Dreadclaw Drop Pod as a dedicated transport

Chaos, Tzeentch etc are (C) Games Workshop

Rites of Warding make them a superb tar pit unit, especially against the omnipresent melta/plasma spam

Wow this is the first version of these guys I've actually like in a long while. My suggestions are:

Change Ritual of Smiting to "For this turn the unit gains the Rending Universal Special Rule" and give them all two wounds again. It really worked well for them back in the day, I miss what they used to be.

the problem with giving them two wounds is that it results in a two-wound troops choice with an invun save, and i cant rightly give such a unit a points cos of less than 30pts per model, not including the sorcerer. theres a fine balance between power and points, and if its too expensive, players simply wont use the unit. also, how would you justify an empty suit of marine armour having more wounds than a normal space marine?

Because there's not really anthing to wound in there? Shoot a regular marine in the chest with a bolter and swiss cheese his insides and he's down and out. Shoot an empty suit and it'll probbly only have damage at the point of penetration and nowhere else, meaning that it could possibly stumble on for a bit before loosing cohesion.

That said, I do agree that it's better for balance issues to keep them at one wound.

I think this is actually quite balanced. Same points value and similar special rules as a Legion Of The Damned squad.
