Way too many people misjudge Chara. While they dig deep to to find out Gaster's secrets and mostly making him look like a good guy, Chara gets bashed in the first seconds and cursed with the title "demon child". It's unfair. In reality, they're just a goat too. A scapegoat.
True, they may haven't been an angel, I see them as an annoying yet still caring sibling towards Asriel.

They also forget Chara is CRUCIAL for gameplay. Your save files are under their name, their stats are what protect Frisk, when they die, they show Frisk a memory, they can translate Froggit language (Noticed how they can say ribbit ribbit followed by translation on the overworld, but in battle, there's only ribbit ribbit?)and any other languages the monsters have which Frisk doesn't understand. And Chara also provides the final memory to save Asriel (Hell, they change the ACT to SAVE, and later remove all the buttons EXCEPT the SAVE button).
Someone even asked 'Isn't the narrator Toby?'
Come on, man!
Toby is the Annoying Dog, who doesn't help anyone at all (Except Sans, who uses his help in trolling Papyrus). He's only there to annoy, hence his name. Hell! The mysterious room in Snowdin is Toby's room, and he's asleep!> The narrator even asks you, 'Do you want to fight the dog?' The Narration is still there, so it's clearly not Toby.
Besides, hasn't anyone noticed that Asriel has terrible naming skills and says Howdy, like Asgore? And Chara says Greetings, like Toriel. Toriel likes puns, and the narration has plenty of puns in it (It's a snowcahedron! You are filled with DeTEMMIEnation). It makes sense to me that Chara picked up Toriel's behavior.Β
I'm not saying they are an angel or a saint. Yes, they got Asgore poisoned (I' pretty sure by accident. Why would a kid intentionally posion someone?) . Yes, Asriel and them died because of their poorly thought out plan, and because they didn't know how absorbed souls behave (The writings in Waterfall are heavily one-sided. It makes it look like you absorb soul, BAM! You got power and that's that! Soul is dead, it won't argue or take back control, but you got it's energy, like Snickers). What I'm trying to say is that, look at Undertale's message. Then look at the various hints Toby left for us throughout the game. He's clearly a minimalist, and didn't explain much on purpose. He wants us to find out on our own. He clearly left it up to us to wonder, what sort of person was Chara. And I believe....they were human. Everyone has flaws. You don't hate humanity for no small reason. But I know they must have had a good side. Otherwise, why do they keep the Heart Locket? (In Genocide, they even say, 'Right where it belongs.' They like it.) Or why is there a sweater for Asgore in their closet?Β
I believe that yes, they weren't the greatest person....but that doesn't mean they were the worst either.

Wow, that particular comment of mine is kinda old. However, I still stand by it and can proudly say that our group became the second largest Chara group (probably the largest one actually DEFENDING our said client).
In any case, I'd like to point out few additional evidence you haven't yet mentioned, which supports the Narrator Theory. So enjoy the extra ammo that will make you smile:
Extra Evidence:
- The dog food bag in Alphys' lab. What the narrator says about it heavily implies their hidden Route preference (It only says "Half-Full" when on Pacifist)
- The "dirty jokes" you tell to Woshua. All the jokes are referencing on Asriel and/on Chara when they were alive.
- The mummy wrappings inside Chara's sarcophagus and the lack of sharp objects in Home. Flowey directly confirmed Chara's suicidal tendencies.
- Actually, I believe the heart locket was FROM Chara TO Asriel and it was never stated that 2 of them existed (the one Hyper Asriel wore was a manifestation). If we argue Chara made the sweater and the macaroni art, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a gift for their BFF (notice the gift box was on Asriel's side).
- A continuation of the previous evidence. "Right were it belongs" could refer to it now belonging on Frisk. Remember, Asriel preffers you in Pacifist and Chara does the same in Genocide (if we argue that the fact Asriel spared humans for nothing made Chara feel betrayed by him). Frisk is their only company in geno.
- The narration's behavior during Dreemurr battles. The items aren't pun-ished with weird names and instead become normal, as well as the narrator often remaining mute at some point. This Serious Mode happens usually in Genocide all the time.
- The first things the narration tells you to do in the ruins during CHECK in battle are reasons why not to kill the monsters.
- When the narrator assumes Napstablook not having a sense of humor, the latter replies with denial. Funny how a GHOST can hear a narrator.
...I think that's all of them I could think of for now. I happen to have a hypothesis regarding Asriel's dark side (not necessarily his alter ego Flowey) if you wish to hear.

Wait....that last bit..........do you think....that would mean....Naostavlook can see them too? It might explain why he immediately disappears in the Geno route.....think about what Chara must have looked like at that point to such an innocent monster...

Yea I know, the most people that Hates chara they don't know and they don't care about her back story and her feelings, but gaster, who is not an base character and you can find him only if you hack some files, they interested and care so much about him, I don't say that gaster sucks, gaster is an awesome character too, but chara is so misjudge and people said that "chara is too bad for asriel" or "pour Asriel" etc. What ever I believe that chara never wants to do anything bad in anyone, and I also believe in your head Canon XD, I had fantasize a similar theori too, but I had it only in my mind, well I found someone that believes chara is always with frisk and they alwyas love their family and the others.

Some say Frisk is Chara's reincarnation, which is why they know how to ACT and got those memories. Or why their souls are the same. But, you know? Did you notice the power generator in True Lab? It appears to have a red heart on it.
