Oh lord, this is too relatable. My characters do this on the reg, albeit in different ways. One insists on telling me the hard truths about myself, another tries to smack me when I make stupid puns, and another shows up to remind me of how irrational my fears are. The most vocal one has a habit of popping in unexpectedly to insult me and the human race in general. He swears it's not personal, though. Riiiight. Oh well, children will be children.

I still prefer poking OC than screaming toddler. Though sometimes both annoye me when don't want to cooperate: OCs with their plot outlines or toddler when she should be cleaned but prefers to fiddle.

hehe... and it's not just authors (though I can see a special relationship between author and character, having done some writing myself). I still have some sculptures in my head that are "poke-pokeing" me to get out.
