Description I spend most my time working on comic art , but I had a break so I made this. Just a random light tank design. Probably early 30s given it's riveted armour and very light armament.

So for armor and vehicles and such, did you draw any inspiration from Metal Slug?

Not really directly, though I do really like the metal slug designs (and they may have had an impact on a subconscious level). Metal slug's a but more modern looking than my stuff for the most part. Tank Police is in the same boat house and may also have influenced me.

The biggest inspiration was from a compilation of the art that Miazaki did for a Japanese hobby magazine. If you like this sort of diesel punk stuff I'd highly recommend you try to get your hands on a copy -Β  cdn.halcyonrealms.com/illustra…

I'm thinking about quitting my part time job to peruse art full time (thanks to Patreon) and if I do I may have the time to do another army design book. I did this one 6 years ago, and while I still like it, I think I could do a better job now. I'd do something a bit different this time. Maybe use a non-human race, though I'd still have that 1920s-1940s look for the gear and vehicles

The crew must hate that thing on so many levels.

Well, it rather resembles the Renault FT, a French tank of theΒ WWI period, which had only a two-man crew. It was basically the first ever "modern" tank (engine at the back, crew at the front, turret on top), and it stayed in service until the beginning of WWII.

There are more tanks elsewhere in the gallery. They are indeed heavier.

the suspension reminds me of the russian T-20 tank.

Yep. I tend to look at a lot of real world gear and then draw something new from my mind. The large runner weels are certainly remonicent of the christie suspension. I actually like the look of more archaic or coplex systems but this style is certainly easier to draw.
