Description
Besides ink and paint there's always the more daily used of skin decoration; Make up.

This picture took a lot of time and effort. Forst of all in my own head. The idea of drawing one female character and mirroring her image, so I could do 2 types of make up, came to me quickly. I wanted to do a 'day time' make up and a 'night time, I'm going to party at a dimly lit disco' make up. To use the same face would strengthen the effect. But I had a hard time putting the character on paper as I wasn't sure of what pose to use. All I knew was I wanted the heads to touch.

And then the colouring itself, I had to work with many layers here. I coloured Miss Day Time, keeping her shirt on a different layer so I wouldn't have to colour the picture twice. But this meant having to draw and scan the shirt separately. Same went for Miss Night Time's poofy hairdo (and it took me 3 tries before I had the right hairdo).

But in the end the effect was just what I was aiming for and I'm really pleased with the result. The only minor; I made an extra effort for the colouring of the eyes but it isn't that visible on the smaller jpg (the original is 42cm wide and 600dpi). As for the different eye colours; Miss Night Time wears coloured lenses. It just goes better with the make up.

Background was simply made in CorelDraw and edited in Photoshop with a layer style, softening masker and lighting effect.
