Description
The second course of the Moon Cup (between the star and special cups) is Jungle Jam. The course is 3 laps.Firstly, the course is based on the fifth world of DKC: Tropical Freeze, and as such, incorporates many set pieces, obstacles, and background details from the game's levels. At the start of the course, racers are suspended over a lower portion of the forest on a very wide tree branch, and machinery and enemies from the first level of the world can be seen suspended in the trees surrounding this point. Racers will make a slight turn to the left before starting a long drift to the right. This first set of turns can be skipped by shrooming off a leafy branch at the beginning of the turn.
A small ramp will take players up into a canopy where large red claws barrel down, digging into the track to harvest fruits before being retracted to back to the sidelines to deposit said fruits. Behind each harvesting location is a boost pad which players can use if they manage to dodge the claws. The track then bends onto another, more vertical branch extending from this tree, making brief use of antigravity.
The branch soon breaks through the brick walls of the fruity factory from Tropical Freeze. The race now continues down into a rushing water stream section, although instead of water, it's the amalgamation of the various crushed fruit juices. Furthermore, some of the jungle's massive fruits are racing alongside the racers through this section, causing racers to spin out if they hit them. In the background of this section, there are plenty of moving parts, stationary blades and cleavers suspended from the ceiling, and various conveyor belts and catwalks over the room. Near the end of this section, the path splits in two. The right path is a continuation of the original path, and is almost as wide, while the left path is much skinnier and faster, cutting over the snaking right path. At the entrance to the left path, however, are a few spinning blades meant to slice the fruit, but will pose extra dangers to racers, making the right path far slower and far safer.
The factory then opens into a vast inner courtyard where the presence of the jungle is in full force, and the river of juice empties its sliced fruits into a large basin to have more fruits and more juice added to it before flowing further back inside the walls of the factory. After jumping over a portion of the lake, racers will drive along the brick pathway surrounding the basin. The first obstacle here is taken from the level Panicky Paddles, allowing racers to choose to either take the faster route on metal platforms over the juice or to take the slightly longer route, which bears closer to the trees. The catch is, that the platforms which make up the faster route are at the base of a fruit transport system, and will invert when a new fruit comes barreling down onto them, sending any racers tumbling into the juices a few meters below.
The next few turns show some slight variation in height, which acts as a makeshift ramp for racers to mushroom boost over the lake of juice, using a suspended block of jelly as a bounce pad. Alternatively, racers with a lot more skill could get the same effect by releasing a mini-turbo boost and hopping at the right time slightly up the road on the slightly higher hill that meshes into the next turn.
Heading back into the building, racers will be asked to choose a conveyor belt. Both are heading against the direction of the racers and are laden with traps, mostly being the remnants of mammoth fruits which where sliced up and are now being deposited into the juice river to be processed. Typically, one conveyor belt will be filled with fruit rinds and other obstacles, while the other will be filled with classic Mario Kart banana peels and fully intact, smaller fruits like the ones in the Mario Kart 8 Animal Crossing course which give the player a speed boost. The obstacles won't be too common as to make this section more like a slight challenge than the bane of every racer's existence, and each conveyor will alternate functions form lap to lap.
Players will once again exit the building and behold the vastness of the jungle island. In the distance an area relating to the Frozen Fruits level can be seen. This next section takes racers downhill and back beneath the canopy, although along the way, racers will race along a large section of bouncy jelly blocks, similar to the end of mushroom gorge. Green and purple blocks will vary only slightly in bounce height (or something), but the blue blocks will open up racers' gliders over this section.
After landing on a massive leaf and crossing under an arch of tree leaves and fruits, racers are brought around one final turn before the finish line.
