Description
My first try in ArtRage. Egyptian god Osiris.. please don't be strict
I wanted to be authentic, but my imagination refused to.

Hmm... it's really interesting. You're right, it's not EXACTLY authentic, but you definitely invoke feeling with it, and that is what art is for, after all. ^^ I actually really, really like it. Great job!

I like the representation of him, even if it doesn't adhere strictly to the standard ancient Egyptian iconography. It captures the idea of the transition from death to life that is an important, perhaps even defining part of Osiris.
I love how his mummy wrappings seem to grow upwards and become part of the vegetation. If you had left out the mummy wrappings, it might not have been as strong, so it's good that you did leave those in.
I've done a drawing where I didn't adhere strictly to Egyptian iconography ([link] though still more strictly than this piece) because to do otherwise wouldn't have allowed me to convey the emotions that I needed to convey. I'm not necessarily a free-for-all, no-rules kind of person, but I can expect the need to sometimes bend the rules or even leave convention behind to properly convey a message or portray a subject.
Long story short: As an artist, and a devotee of the Egyptian pantheon, I approve.
