Williams, he clearly has far better Compositions, not only that but has done compositions, arrangements, and has conducted multiple Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras. Not to mention has scores of Award wins and lifetime achievements. Top that Elfman.Β

John Williams for the win! All of Elfman's stuff sounds the same....the same bouncy syncapated rythms or the over-drone misting of the sax. But Williams always has something different up his sleeve with surprising dynamics. Williams is definately the better of the two.

i like danny elfman, because i could listen to his music more and like it more,,... but i love john williams too, they're by far the best --- and danny elfman had no training - he did Pee Wee's Big Adventure out of the blue, he had only done Forbidden Zone before that. -- Williams had early training. Not that williams should be put down for that,, but idk,.. i like elfman better - williams music seems more like the bach of 20th century film composing. its really intelligent, and elfman is just like fun and easier to understand musically, not that that makes it worse, i love it. -- if you like elfman you should listen to nino rota, that's where he got a lot of his inspiration, the soundtrack 'otto e mezzo' (8 and a half") is good

I can just imagine: Danny will bust out all his twisted fairy tale music from Edward Sisscorhands for starters, and then John Williams will strike back with the ultimate power trip, Duel of the Fates, Danny answers with the epic Spiderman theme, Williams comes back with The Imperial March, Danny pulls out all the stops and launches into a fully-fledged Batman Suite, but then Williams answers with all 15 minutes of Escape/Chase/Saying Goodbye from E.T. and Elfman conceeds defeat. I mean, what do you say after the greatest few cues of all time?

GAH! i can't choose! Danny has a dark and mysterious thing going on, while John has composed some of the greatest movies of all time, like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jaws. but i think in the debate w/ myself, John would win. i listen to his stuff more then Danny's. don't get me wrong, Danny is an AMAZING composer, i just like John better.
