Description
I read this non-fiction book the other night about a woman who owned a horse farm that took in unwanted, neglected, and abused horses and used them as part of an outreach to children, particularly the abused and troubled ones. There were so many touching stories in the book, but the ones that brought tears to my eyes were the ones about abused children connecting with abused horses. There is something profound about suffering through something traumatic and knowing that someone else (or some creature else) has endured something similar that causes a deep connection. It's the kind of real-life magic that can bring a fragile, timid girl out of her shell and give a strong but shell-shocked draft horse courage. There's few things in this world more depressing to me than an innocent child suffering, but few things that give me more hope than to see the greatness and loving tenderness of God reach out to these children through some part of His Creation.Related content

There were a lot of great stories in the book, and apparently all true! Plus the writer was a Christian, so it was nice having her interpret everything from a Christian perspective.
