Description
I found some time after work today to practice in my mixed media sketchbook. I started by drawing with my Col-Erase pencils and I left a nice, wide open space for painting. I proceeded to color the border with a bright green Copic marker. I decided not to add any more marker detailing due to the smudging from the colored pencil. The last medium I used was student grade watercolors. The paper is made for mixed media, so I wanted to test the paper for watercolor techniques. I am so glad I taped the paper down. It buckled horribly even with the taped edges. I had a hunch but now I know for sure that wet into wet does not work well with this paper. Taping will be absolutely necessary for future watercolor practices. Despite the buckling earlier on, the paper mostly flattened once it dried and I was able to add in all the detailing with a filbert and a rigger. Challenges aside, I had fun.Related content

It came out really nice. The colorfull background is what struck me most in this. Plus the trees are a great addition to it too.
