Edit:Fixed the colors a little bit. 8D

This is... actually a really bad ref, but what the heck. *just wanted to have one up*

I drew this actually a few months back, very quickly, quick inking, and quick colors. Which is why it's not so great. ALSO... Gogglebeast's fur color is a bit off, I think it should be a bit of a slightly darker peach than that. o3o Ah well.

OKAY, EXPLANATION TIME LOL. Gogglebeast first showed up sevvvverallll months back (March?) because I was going through a very rough time, and I needed something/someone I could draw symbolically to help me through all that. So what does that mean? Yup, Gogglebeast is the artistic representation of myself, an avatar I can play with and draw and just mess with as I see fit for fun or for catharsis. (Any cries of 'lolfurry!' will be met with a prompt kick-to-the-face. Not that I have anything against 'em, but I don't really consider myself one, so... yeah.)

There actually is a lot of symbolism in her very design itself. SO... prepare for ramble time!

First and foremost, the duality aspect of her nature. Her regular form (the small one) versus the larger, more aggressive feral form. One representing basic self, one representing the various hardships and emotional distress that build up over time; feral form deals with problems, feral form deals with rage, feral form is the one displaying scars. She's bigger and more muscular, better able to handle things, in a sense more 'grown up' without any age difference at all. Her ears are torn to symbolize various emotional battles that have been gone through, various 'injuries' sustained. She has larger teeth and larger claws (and is far more defensive/less trusting) in order to lash out more effectively, in order to keep from being hurt again. Her overall appearance is far more wild in nature (shaggy mane, etc) since she is far more in tune with primal emotions, like anger, jealousy, and fierce territorialness.

Believe it or not, the rainbowed front feet are symbolic as well. (No, not gay-pride, though there's nothing wrong with that.) Rainbows are said to be a bridge between the world of the physical and the spiritual; the fact that her front arms are rainbow-marked signifies each step forward being made towards that spirituality, towards understanding the universe for what it really is.

She has five spikes on her back. Spikes are a defense mechanism, and the fact that they appear on her mid to lower back means enemies can't attack her from behind. Numerologically, five can be equated to freedom, and I am now in the point of my own life where I learn to spread my own wings.

Her goggles are symbolic as well. Gogglebeast's goggles are normally clear and easy to see through, but in feral form they're scratched up, opaque; whatever problems you go through in life shape the way you see the world, for better or worse, and the hardships, hurt and anger that feral form has faced cloud her view of how the world really operates. It is hard to allow yourself to trust, when doing so in the past has only ended in pain. As a result, her goggles are no longer a clear view to the outside world, but rather a skewed one. (Another minor bit of symbology is how, though regular form can wear them over her eyes just fine, feral form can't even see through them, since her eye glow [which represents her own rage] reflects off all the scratches on the inside and blinds her.) ...Also, the metal band on both gogglesets is actually the same interlocking pattern from the band of an old watch of mine, which I was very fond of. o3o

Minor color things aren't so much symbolic as just relevant; blonde hair since mine is, magenta-ish spikes and gold eyes to reflect an avatar I used to have a very long time ago (which has since changed), and green claws because... well, I just happen to really like neon green.

As far as actual species goes, she's part Layhr, part something else. The Layhr aspect really shows itself most when she's upset/angry/feral, since that's when her eyes glow; a trademark of the Layhr species.

You know, there might've been more to this, but I can't remember what it was right now. Also, she's supposed to have four fingers + dewclaw/thumb for each paw, so I totally screwed up there. 8D;;; Oh well. If you read all of that and paid attention, thank you.

FUN FACT: She probably wouldn't care if you drew her as a boy (and nor would I); in my mind her gender is kinda more androgynous anyway, so! (though gosh she needs a new ref so badly aaahhhhh dang this is old and slightly inaccurate at this point 8'DD)

Wow, that's a whole lot of symbolism to be packed into that representative- and all of it is very nice and easy to see once you've read through the description once. <3 I really love what you did to Feral's goggles, at once both skewing the world and blinding her to it using her eyes- how she sees the world anyway. And I like the angry stiff fur you used on her as opposed to her less aggressive self. It really lends to the rage she represents. <3

And I see the rainbow has come up again- nice touch. xD I also really like the symbolism there, as well, mixed with the woah<3 colors. x33

Ah, catharsis, the evergiving. <3

You probably dont care to hear from me anymore here, but, well.. here I am.

I think the colors are kind of WOW in the sense of 'augh my eyes, too bright', but you've always liked that. I notice you like the word cathartic too.. You have too many activities for catharsis and not enough -people- for it, dear.

You still pay nice attention to detail. I like how you do 'fluff' on creatures. Always makes me want to rub them around and floof em up a bit.

On a lesser note.. Were you ever gonna post that art you said you did for me whenever back when? Or is it just.. lost?

I love the thought you've put into her design. When I made Tearose I just sort of brainspewed her out onto a piece of paper without a lot of real thought and tweaked her a little along the way. xD; But srsly. I MUST MAKE ARTS

Thank you for all the nice comments, Mystic! <333 And yeah... there was symbology EVERYWHERE. XD; Which usually doesn't happen. But that's okay! And hey, nothing wrong with tweaking things as you go along. =3 <3333!
