Description
Two more geishas in Gion, Kyoto. The one on the left I think is a Geiko and the one on the right a Maiko, an apprentice Geisha. I like how the two seem to have different personalities, (like how the one on the left has a little panda toy, hehe) but I'm not as proud of this picture as I am of this one [link] .Related content

The girl on the right is a maiko (apprentice geisha). She is an ex-maiko of "gion kobu"(a geisha district in kyoto). Her name is "kanako", she quit her life as a maiko and got married.

The Geiko/ Geisha on the left is Sayoko and the Maiko on the right is Kanako, who stopped working as a Maiko some time ago.

A geiko is a prostitute, an appretice geisha is a young geisha as in the performer kind... I didn't think these two would be seen together.

If this photo was taken in Gion in Kyoto, then the maiko's name could be Kanako.

Vibrant colours, great expression which really contrasts with the pallorness, and good angle, I like it

great facial expression on the girl to our right!!! and i love the geisha as a photo subject. it's so interesting to see such an age-old tradition being continued now. photos really get to that point more than paintings do. great work!

Heehee, she looks like she has a sense of humour at least I have another picture of these two that I'm debating with myself whether or not to put up - they were rather far away and so the quality isn't fantastic. My other pictures of Geisha I'm afraid were all blurred because they walk too fast or have spectators making strange faces in!

Ahh d'oh!
Maybe you could put them in your scraps or something?
*is amused by the spectator expressions remark*
I just had a funny picture in my head, that's all.
