I totally love Cheri, she's one of my all time favourite characters, she's just so ordinary and sweet and likable and always seems to be the most intelligent member of the Watch. I always imagined her blonde for some reson but I really like how sassy and feminine she is but still with the beard (she is a dwarf after all).

No, in the Discworld books, like the LotR universe, male and female dwarves indistinguishable by looks or voice. Terry Pratchett says that half of dwarf courtship: 'involves, as tactfully as possible, finding out what sex the other dwarf is.'
But Cheri (originally Cheery) here came to the big city and decided that chainmail underwear was for those who had never heard of silk lingerie. She single-handedly started the dwarven sexual revolution.
