Neil Gaiman that the Tardis isn't really his wife; she's his vessel, his friend, his mother, his lady etc. She's many many roles and no one word covers it. It's why they never refer to the "wife" thing in the episode itself. It's why he only describes them as "A boy and his box". The title of the show was meant to intrigue without giving anything away since the original title was "Bigger on the Inside". But wife was never meant literally. As Suranne Jones herself said the Doctor and Tardis aren't marital or lovers: βIt develops as motherly but also as friends. Obviously River Song is the woman in his life."

All people The Doctor did not marry...

River IS the child of the TARDIS...but I think it means it in a kind of way people say I'm a child of May (as in the month) or she's a child of Christmas...but yeah...
Have you realised that Olivia (David Tennant's daughter) has a mum whose the Doctor's daughter a dad whose the Doctor and a grandfather who is the Doctor...that kinda means the Doctor and his daughter had a daughter and their daughter is his daughter and granddaughter...now that's a weird family...

It might be, except for the fact that on either side of the point in time when the Doctor married River, one or the other of them is not married... What I mean is, in the Doctor's past, River is married to him, but he is not married to River, and in the Doctor's future, he is married to River, but River is not married to him. So even though they got married, they are not married. Wibbly-Wobbly!

I think their time lines are a little bit more complicated than that. But they married in a parallel universe so it doesn't count... kind of. I have no problem with those two together but only as long as the Master is still absent XD
