In order for someone to be a senior, they must be recognized by most people by helping them out.
This includes talking to people and playing a role in leadership. Seniors are known for giving a good reason why they refuse to help certain people. They also help out the da community usually by supporting and encouraging younger Artist and help them improve their art skills.
This does not include giving away free subs for people who are in close relations with the person who has started the donation.
Sorry for being negative. I am not very fond of him being a "senior" of deviantart. I do not believe popularity is a good example of what a senior really is either.
Once again this all comes back to my experience with this person.

I think it's more a year and a half, but senior status usually isn't reflective of dA age, it's more of what you do for the community. Granted, people around longer have done more, but still.
