Description
Oi, this idea seemed so much better when it was still just an idea.Layers: Maybe 20 now? Hard to tell as I toss stuff in randomly.
Frames: 43
Duration: Days, as I worked on the frames and layers to get something close to what I saw in my head.
*I am finally going to use the Critique system....please be gentle with me, it's my first time.
EDIT After a couple suggestions, and my own displeasure with the outcome, I have gone back and added a few elements to make this appear smoother and more realistic. The bottom responds to the wind!
EDIT 2 Now, the eyes move with the wind and there are some even fainter sparks floating up from this wicked flame.

Thank you for taking the time to make some suggestions! It is funny that you say to add a wax drip and another spark, my original idea was going to have both. But as I become more unhappy with the outcome, I just left those out. I am going to try to make the animation a little smoother and I will try to add these in as well.

I think the way it reacts to the wind is very cute e.deviantart.net/emoticons/g/g… " width="17" height="15" alt="
" title="Giggle" /> and I love the way it looks so cartoony. It doesn't look very realistic because only the tip is moving and not the rest of the flame, but I still think the way you animated this looks really good
e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

(Big Grin)" /> and also with this style, adding a face to the flame doesn't look weird

The colors and shading fits the animation style perfectly as well! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="15" height="15" alt="

If you ever feel like trying a more realistic approach I suggest trying to make the movements look more random, and also "break up" the flame a bit ( so that it doesn't always hold that droplet like look all the time) and also, as I mentioned before, make the entire flame react to the breeze. ^^
All in all I think this is a very nice emote! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/o/o… " width="46" height="34" alt="

Thank you for the advice! I am actually working right now on making the bottom of the flame react more to the breeze, per your and ~synful 's advice. Hopefully it will look a little more realistic when I have finished. Thank you!

That candle is lovely. Great little flame. the detail and movement look nice as well. Smoother and such. I also like the coloring and the adorable expression on his/her face. The drop of wax is a lovely touch as well. Well done!

It's a little too big to use as an avatar...
Who is already using it?

You are right, unfortunately
I don't watch the size ... I was fascinated by the image and its analogy with my nickname on Firefox
I don't know if anyone uses it ... was a question for you !!!
Anyway, thanks for your disposability

"Expected More of It, Still I Failed
Stupid flickering flame. I wanted so much more from this when I started it." - [link]
I have an idea. Candles sometimes fliker higher/longer/taller (however you can describe it). So my suggestion is instead of it just going left and right, add a few frames in where it gets taller. And you could have the eyes go o.o or something like that if you want.
And another idea I just had... You could gradient (hand pixel if you want) the outline of the flame itself, to make it lighter at the top. Just a thought... Good luck to you if you plan on fiddling with it some more.
By the way, nice effect with the wax going down the side. Great job. Very enjoyable to watch.

Thank you so much for your input! I hope to one day go back and tweak this, or start over from scratch to tackle the idea from a different angle...and when I do, I keep your advice in mind.

Thank you. And you're welcome. I'm glad I could help.
I was watching a real candle flame that day, it's probably not the best for my eyes... but then again, what is these days?

I am going to add a really belated suggestion here, even though you are probably SO over working on this.
Have you ever noticed that a flickering flame changes colors? I'm sure you understand the mechanics of that better than I do, Ms. Science degrees. Anyway, if you incorporated some blue/white that sort of changed as it flickered, it might add to the realism.
I should probably read the comments to see if anyone else made a similar one, but I'm too lazy. You know me. If they did... oops! If not... well... then I'm special. That's all.

I attempted changing the colors, as a flame would do....and it was bad. Very very bad. But your suggestion is appreciated.

Nice emoticon. I know its hard to gt back into them after a break. However it looks a lil weird the bottom of the flame never moves. Have you tries moving it slightly at time just to give it a bit more life?
