Description
1) I feel like using a Lovecraft story for this is cheating, but I love Lovecraft, so nyah. 2)Speedpaint is kind of a misnomer; this actually took about three nights, although the figure was mostly done in one sitting. 3) It's hard to paint with this guy staring at you. He's obviously ready for the Fourth of July.Into the lands of civilisation came Nyarlathotep, swarthy, slender, and sinister, always buying strange instruments of glass and metal and combining them into instruments yet stranger. He spoke much of the sciences – of electricity and psychology — and gave exhibitions of power which sent his spectators away speechless, yet which swelled his fame to exceeding magnitude. Men advised one another to see Nyarlathotep, and shuddered. And where Nyarlathotep went, rest vanished; for the small hours were rent with the screams of nightmare.
H.P. Lovecraft, Nyarlathotep

This is by far my favorite illustration of a human Nyarlathotep I have seen! Love the face. He looks like he's up to no good.

Oh, thank you very much! For some reason Nyarlathotep's my favorite. I guess I like the idea of a guy menacing the world via slide shows. He is definitely up to no good!

Hahaha. Menacing the world via slide shows. That's awesome! I was unaware he did that. He definitely seems to have the most personality Of the mythos things.

Yep, it's in the story appropriately titled Nyarlathotep: [link] Scary slide shows about scary foreign people. It's probably tied with The Statement of Randolph Carter for my favorite Lovecraft story just because of how elegantly it's written.
