An idea that popped into my head ages ago and used in a Star Wars RP forum, which was set in an alternate timeline caused by the meddling of a very powerful Sith Lord.

The AX-wing Interceptor, also known as the Ax-class Interceptor, was an Ugly starfighter created by the infamous pirate Redkihl Rohk . After his death (though rumors persist that he lives on), the Free Systems Alliance took a liking to the design.

Bio: A hybrid 'Ugly' starfighter, the AX-wing starfighter/interceptor (also called the Ax-class interceptor) combines an R-Z1 A-wing interceptor with four X-wing strike-foils and Taim & Bak KX10 laser cannons. This gives the fighter far more stability in flight, as well as extra firepower and wider firing arc. The Ax-class is propelled by the X-wing's four engines, while the A-wing engines have been converted to telescoping scram-jets to aid in escape pursuers. In the hands of a sufficiently skilled pilot, the AX is a very swift and deadly starfighter.
