I hate this classit makes me sick
to think that you
my beliefs should pick
But Religion is a class
we're required to take
to teach us all
which decisions we should make
It pisses me off
that you think that you
know me well enough
that you should choose

What I should do
The more you push

Don't try to tell me
what I need in my life
who should be my role model
When I should pray
how i should pray
what i should do
or not do everyday
Don't tell me stories of magic
or read me fairy tales
I can use my own logic
To see what's truly real
And if I don't bow down
to the old man all in gold
Or if I laugh when he tells me
he cares for the poor and the cold
If I want to scream at your "leaders"
to get off their lazy asses
And stop planning how to help the world tomorrow
as another year passes
I'm sick of all of you "humble" servants
high up on your thrones
while the hungry and needy
are searching for a home
Don't tell me that the all-loving Lord
will punish me if I don't repent
Don't warn me that I'll burn in Hell
for the "sinful" life I've lead
Stop acting like you love
people of all shapes and sizes
When you're lying through your teeth
What you need to realize is
you're still suppressing others
who crane their neck to see you up on your high horse
And instead of getting better
You're only getting worse
So maybe you should look around
Finally open your eyes
And see that you won't brainwash me
with your offers and your lies
Leave me alone and I'll leave you be
Don't try to sculpt me into something I'm not
Don't tel me my friends and I are going to Hell to rot
Stop forcing your thoughts upon other people
Let me build my own person
With my own morals, values, and beliefs
For if you really loved all people
you would accept me as I am
I only hope one day
you might see
all the people you've pushed aside
and learn to accept the ones "below you"

Courtney! This was amazing! You did an excellent job describing the problems with religion classes...but don't worry, it gets better your senior year with Dan Wesco. He's amazing. Do you have Mrs. Schneider now? Yeah...she's one of the worst, only under Mrs. Kampwerth. But like I said, all gets better.
I think my favorite stanza was:

I don't think you need to put it as mature content, honestly. I think that's more for naked ladies and such. If people will get offended, that is their own problem. You have every right to express yourself as long as you aren't singling out just one person, in my opinion.
But yeah, great job!

Mrs. K was my favorite teacher ever... Everyday, we had an argument, she'd lose, then after she realized I was right, I'd get yelled at for being 'disruptive'.

Haha. Typical Mrs. K behavior. I love how she graded the class on their opinions and if they didn't match up with hers then she would count the question wrong.
