This is undoubtedly a perfect way to introduce to viewers who are so used to or rather expect vampires burning in the sunlight to be universal (like fans of Vampire: the Masquerade and Requiem especially) a rather recent invention especially with F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu here who is the first ever vampire recorded to have that weakness that quickly embedded into everyone's pop cultural perceptions since then which kinda fringe brilliance.

Or in short if this was a movie scene, it would quickly introduce to viewers where the "burning in sunlight" bane came from (via Orlok of course) and Vampires from 19th century literature preceding that were not harmed by sunlight at all which perfectly sets the tone for this story.
