Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Clade: Stegocephali
Family: Rynchogyrinidae
Genus: Rynchogyrinus
Species: Rynchogyrinus apatela

The fakefish of the bathypelagic seas looks vaguely similar to the goblin shark, but in actuality, it is an amphibian-like stegocephalian vertebrate. This animal is so convergently evolved like the goblin shark, that it is equally rare to observe in the wild, leaving the evolutionary origins of the creature shrouded in mystery. The only known traits of the fakefish however, is that it is strictly nocturnal, sleeping in a vertical position during the day, and has the unique ability to breach out of water to flush out parasites. But even then, it is still an animal unknown to researchers and scientists alike.
