A couple weeks after their last encounter, James had wandered back up the same mountain side in hopes of finding any remaining tufts of fur or items he may have dropped along his treck. He had parted on rather sad terms with the beast, which made the travel much worse than it could have been. With a heavy heart, he continued along his path until a loud gruff rang in his ears.
Against the face of the rock, the same brute stared him down with such a cold gaze. James had only laughed to himself, face twisting into a confused smile as he tried to convey his words to the beast. Exclaiming "I remember you!" and "Do you remember me?" more than once. But, the brute had continued to stare with his defensive posture. It took awhile for the large male to realize, and even then he fell quiet and continued to give small gruffs. James knew that the beast must've encountered many people along the forest floor, and perhaps the beast came up here to get away from those people--and he disturbed that. Sighing, the man had raised his hand and gave a small wave as he backed up, understanding now that he had to keep his distance. For how long? Only time would tell.
