I grew up in rainy and chilly Northern Germany where I remember people sitting outside the ice cream shop having ice cream under a canopy as soon as spring started during any weather, including torrential downpours of rain, as a matter of principle. Now I am (sort of) back in the North and something like a pandemic and a lockdown won't keep people from getting their ice cream in the first warm weeks apparently. There is the saying that Germans will barbecue on doomsday because the weather is nice.
