Description
CPR 4-8-4 3101 looks rather sad and neglected as it wastes away on display outside the IPSCO scrap plant in Regina, Sask. The engine is joined by the CPR Business carΒ Francis E. Shaw, a CPR Sleeper, and a CPR caboose (known as 'vans' up north here), all in the same sad shape. Very sad to see.ΒDifficult to get a good shot of the engine from the front, I apologize for the obstructions in the way.

Oh my gosh, what a sorry state she's in. They should take her to a museum and give her a cosmatic overhaul.

Whereas 3100 is in great cosmetic and mechanical shape, the 3101 here, is most likely the polar opposite. Β Poor condition. Β

Yeah I would rather see 3101 in a museum, sitting indoors instead of rusting away in that siding.

The only other most powerful steam locomotive in Canada, sitting there neglected. What a shame. Have you seen the video when it/ or it's sister 3100 was being built?

I have not seen the video, thanks for sharing! And yes it is a shame, but sadly chances are nothing will happen and it will continue to rot away.

Yes, and unfortunately I will most likely not be able to make it back there for some time to come.

I believe a restoration was proposed to see if this engine could return to service.Β However, I have no idea what had happened to the planned restoration.

I had also heard something along those lines, not sure if they were planning on sending it to the Western Development Museum or not.
