Well, at least she is going to be used. I know there is a shortline (can't recall the name) in the Appalachians that uses an A-B-B-A set of F-units (I think. they might have more or fewer) to haul coal during the summer because they pull like hell and are easily maintained with their Dash-2 electronics

Yes, this shortline already has several in service already, adding to an eclectic roster which even includes in original GP7, a Chessie geep, and several other historic pieces of equipment.Β

Sounds like my model railroad! Also, is your profile pic an AC-130 gunship?

Are these former CP Rail units, the ones that ran commuter trains into Montreal in the 90ies?

These are both former CNR and RLK units I believe.

Yup, did a little digging and found out it was bornΒ CN 6539 and became Via 6303. The CPR #1400 was actually an FP7 and is now pullingΒ the Royal Canadian Pacific,Β a rail tour train based in Calgary. The FP9s that AMT ran were actually numbered 1300 and up, I must be getting old.

Ok, I have seen the FP7 on the RCP out west before, classy looking train. The cab units on the AMT were something to see though, very unique, as were the cab units on GO way back when. WAY before my time, however.

I've never actually seen the RCP except when it went by my house when I lived in Beaconsfield and it came East for the holiday train. I heard the 567's coming but by the time I realized they were paired and got to the window, the engines were out of sight, but I did get to watch the varnish roll by. I have some film images of the AMT FPs, I'll see if I can dig any of them up.

I really like the look of F units anywhere in passenger service, commuter or streamlined. Either way, they look great. The cars on the RCP look amazing aswell, don't you think?
