Archer, like most kids, subconsciously cherry picked aspects from his parents that seemed like they would suit him best in life. While his father was patriotic, charismatic and radiated general positivity his mother was far more mellow, subdued and depressive in nature. She kept to herself and worked on literature and botany rather than attending social settings or festivals with her husband. As a foal Archer watched and absorbed them and their strange mannerisms towards one another. They were truly opposites, and that suited him just fine. It merely forced the foal into a large variety of experiences and taught him to consider different personalities.
He learned from a young age that a large smile accompanied with a charming tone commanded positive attention. He figured out how to weasel his way into the center of a crowd and keep a spotlight locked onto him. But off of the proverbial stage he also learned how to sit back and observe life, to take in what it gave him and meet it with curiosity and scrutiny. He was never satisfied with a simple answer and often found himself mulling over things for days at a time, even at such a young age.
While he aged he learned how to manipulate, surely he had to with such a proud and overbearing father. He knew how to spin a situation in his favor as well as read the writing on the walls. He could switch between a shoulder to cry on, with simple prying questions that were laced with niceties to get at what he wanted, to an intimidating stallion that through well chosen wording and tone could make a larger horse's knees shake. Morals aside, it was rarely done with malicious intent. He just knew how to get what he wanted and was far too determined to stop.
The issue he learned that no matter how fancy the words or how convincing the tone was that there was always someone who could read it and see through the fog. Archer holds his skills with a high regard and naturally assumes that others won't catch on until proven otherwise, which has caused him to be cornered more times than he'd ever openly admit. His tone can also come off as pretentious or haughty, which sometimes works against him and causes others to raise their guard defensively rather than drop the walls for easy brain picking. In moments of error he is extremely hard on himself, often sinking into a bitter mood and lashing out at those who pry. He was raised to do things right by his father, but to also learn from his mistakes by his mother. He tends to focus more on the mistake than the way to fix it initially, but given enough time he tends to push emotions to the side and focus on the logistics.

HISTORYsummary: Born to a couple with conflicting ideals Archer learned to question everything in life as well as grow into a manipulative little sneak. He loathed the solstice sacrifices for the self satisfaction it brought everyone at the cost of a life. Because of the pounding desire for change in his heart he ran away from home with only his mother in the loop and joined the Freedom's Flight in hopes of becoming a Shadowhoof to further the cause.

[Childhood]
Archer was born in Talori to his two "opposites-attract" parents. His childhood was filled with quite the mishmash of experiences; on one hand he'd go out with his father and learn about the herd's ways from mannerisms to their beloved Goddess and all of the cultural aspects in between. On the other he'd spend quiet afternoons with his mother testing his wit and how to question everything presented to him. She was never critical of him, just of the world he was brought into, which in turn made Archer desire change. Anything to see his sweet mother smile and mean it.
One thing that the foal couldn't get over, despite all of his father's regurgitation of "This is how things are", was why were the Pegasi sacrificed when life was so precious? Whenever the question arose he never quite caught the looks that Crane shot to his wife, surely she'd been filling the boy's head with doubt. Archer never settled on whythey happened at such a young age but his life quickly exploded with chaos on the topic when Perseus survived the Solstice sacrifice. Archer was intentionally sheltered from the violence that followed but he still listened in on the murmurs of others to piece together what was actually happening. This, like the practice to begin with, made little sense at such a young age, but as he grew the dots connected.

[Teenager Years]
Archer's colt years were confusing to him. He smiled for his father whenever religion was brought up, something that Crane felt passionate and dedicated to, but in his heart Archer felt nothing. He played ball to make his father proud while in private he vented to his mother often. The sacrifices were something so cruel seeming to him, even with wide Pegasus approval. How was being slaughtered an honor? He felt like an outcast in his own herd for not blindly nodding along with the sacrifices and their patron deity. There were others who felt the same, aside from Carmella, and to those Cascade doubting individuals he clung to.
He rebelled often and earned himself a little bit of a reputation for being a sneak and a vandal, often ducking out of studies or tasks to run off with others his age or to linger around older horses with non-herd standard ideals. Crane fumed at the insolence of his only child while Carmella rarely reprimanded Archer for his habits. The little outings of his became standard until he was old enough where he should have been considering what he wanted to do with this life. His father was hopeful, his mother was convinced she already knew where her son would end up.
Sure enough he did find out what he wanted to do, along with a few others similar in age, and murmured in private about the Freedom's Flight.

[Adulthood]
As an adult Archer did find his place in the "terrorist" faction like he'd dreamed. He felt more at home with them than he ever did in Talori, despite leaving his family behind in a herd that he found utterly toxic. It had been a tough choice but when the call of duty came, he answered in private. With only his mother in the loop of where her son was going he begged her to spin a lie for his absence. He didn't care if she told others he was dead, or if he'd gone on a voyage never to return, just that the real reason be hidden. With a heavy, but proud, heart she agreed and everyone she told thought that the horse was gone from their lives forever. Archer tried not to wonder how the news effected his father, despite Crane's thick beliefs he couldn't not miss him or dwell on the shame he must have felt.
Archer's place in the Freedom's Flight was as a spy, and he was a damn good one at that. His fair coat and mane could easily be dyed temporarily to remain unrecognizable while he shifted between the borders in and out of Inaria. It wasn't difficult to fit in given he'd grown up within the extreme herd, he knew how to disappear into the shadows and listen for the information needed. When he was approached a new tale was spun and his cover was rarely brought into question. On very rare occasions he would see his mother, if only for a second. They would lock eyes and her expression would soften, relieved, and then they would part. It was the small moments in Inaria that Archer looked forward to the most, but work came first and he refused to risk his cover.

TRIVIA✧ Continuously styles and dyes his mane and tail to create different disguises. Each dye and style job is highly temporary and only used for espionage. His normal mane style is worn down in full locks. His tail is typically wrapped in itself to be kept short and out of the way.
✧ In the start when Archer joined the Freedom's Flight the abrupt change in lifestyle to something more strict and scheduled threw him for a loop, but his own determination and inner drive for justice helped him power through and learn structure and discipline that he never learned from his time with the Talori.
✧ Archer is rather skilled at faking accents to blend in where need be.
✧ Since Archer is homosexual he became quite used to keeping his orientation on the down low. He can come off as flirty to just about any gender, but when it comes to genuine romance and intimacy with other males he tends to get skittish due to his Talorian upbringing.
