Description
How to create fresh IK bones for your MMD model.Part 1/2 of the IK bones tutorial.
This is my first tutorial. I said I had one coming and here it is. Although, the one I had in mind was not about IK bones at all. lol! Wasn't 'til I decided to make my own for my new tail that I discovered... uh oh! I'm on my own on this one! Not a tutorial in sight... not even on YouTube.
So many folks have helped me in this realm, I feel perhaps this can up some redemption.
Funny though... IK bones feel so useless in some aspects.. where most people just keep 'em as (3)'s.. physics still work nearly the same if used on em.. just less twisting. D'hell's gonna notice that, anyway? :< Well... this was the only tutorial uncovered, sooooo...
I hope I did my part. I tried to be blunt, yet comprehensive as possible for ALL. The tutorial is color-coded with arrows pointing the way.
Use the color codes and your memory of previous page's color codes to strengthen your comprehension of this tutorial. It also could have been a far shorter tutorial.. but I had to make it understood WHY you're doing this and that.
For the experienced editors, 1-10 can be skipped by you. Maybe 11-13 as well. I still have other uploads' descriptions to edit. Weeee, this is almost done! ...Wait, I lied..... the video. ARGH!!! I just.. wanna... play.. my MMO's!!
Enjoy! I hope this isn't overwhelming. You can do it, champ! Tread slowly, you'll know sweet victory yet!
I -am- lazy... but I will try to ...TRY to answer unanswered questions.. even the repeated one's.

You can download one from the website
Create a folder on your desk top then drag and drop it into MMD
Or you can use 3d Custom Girl xp make sure it has hard save control r to hard save
Use TSO to PMD
Drag in there and your textures and your mode should be there..

this is very useful but im sort of having some glitches with my ik bones what happens is that they will say that are changed to 4 but instantly switch right back to 0 do you have any reason why?

For changing a bone to bone type number 4,you'll need to go to the IK tab and then register the bones that you want it to bee turned into an IK type , lol very unclear since there's no demonstration ;A;Β
(And I dunno how to change a bone to bone type number 6 , I was searching for a tutorial for that and came across this one, which , didn't really help me ; u ;

My PMD won't let me change the bones to Type 4 or 6. I even tried it with bones I hadn't created, and it still won't let me. It's in PMD mode, and it's only Type 4 and 6 bones. I can make them actual IK bones, but not Type 4 or 6. Any ideas what's wrong?

What if the box that the orange arrow is pointing in step 8 is dark and it won't let me touch it?? Also I'm not able to change the ending bone to type 6 because it keeps going back to type 0 BAH ((οΌοΎΠοΎ))!
BTW which version of PMD editor are you using?
π: 0 β©: 1
SpehDaBlack In reply to love-angel-sugar [2012-10-07 05:46:32 +0000 UTC]
Ah yes, I know of this issue. This happens when you are working with a PMX editor and a .pmx model OR are in PMX mode. This is going to get a bit tedious, but if you open (I) in the MAIN Window and click PMD(bunchofjaptext)(X), you can change to PMD mode and now you can start to change bone numbers.
If it continues in PMD mode, what I had to do was remove all of the bones IK-connected to the IK bone. Not delete them, but delete the bone number they're IK-connecting to. Once all are done holding onto the IK bone you wanna change, now you can once again change it and the other bones too.

Very nice tutorial! Greatly appreciated, thank you!
Bit of a problem though, I hope you don't mind my asking... In step 10 where I have to turn all of the bones except the ending bone into number 4, they simply won't go. It immediately switches back to number 0.
I did everything you said, attach them backward and connect them forward... I tried connecting the ending bone to the center but that didn't work, so I connected the ending bone to itself (4)... Is that wrong?
Sorry for bothering you, thanks for helping... ^^

Usually if you'd wish a bone not to move with anything you could just insert -1 into the type box. I'm ...very sorry though, I barely remember how all this works. ; ;
I'm in both the middle of understanding this new IK Creator Plugin for the editor and playing an MMORPG.. so my mind is pretty warped right now.. lol
Used to have a direct link.. x-x;; but it's in one of Supe41's videos at his blog. [link]
Gonna be very useful once figured out. I've always wanted IK Arms!

LOL IK arms would be awesome, XD! I'm actually trying to give a monster IK tentacles.
But motion data wouldn't work with IK arms.
THanks, but I searched all through that blog and couldn't find anything... Drayo has a rigging tutorial but it's very advanced. I guess i'll just do it. Thanks for helping out.

I should have a tutorial upload in a moment. IK arms still work accordingly with motions. Simply turn off the IK bones in the model manipulation box, register, and good to go. I've only figured out the EASY part for now, of the IK maker for arm plugin... and only seems to work for .pmx models. Lots more testing and understanding is required.
I would like to be able to use the plugin to soon make custom IK's of specified bones. It would make life much easier than going through all of the above here.

PS: How did you put/move the bones to her *butt* sorry for the word.
I'm trying to make IK bones for ARM L and R, Leg L and R, and toe L and R
...and I don't know how to put them in proper place, could you help me?
as what I've told, I'm new at this!

SpehDaBlack In reply to Shin001 [2012-01-26 09:51:21 +0000 UTC]
I kinda barely remember this stuff, now. As far as moving bones, though... in the Bone Tab, when you select a bone, there's an X, Y, and Z typebox. All new bones start at your model's feet at x:0,y:0,z:0. Just type a small number into the Y Axis box (Like 10) and hit enter, you'll see it move and it'll be highlighted red.
If you turn bone selection on, you can then click and drag the bone with mouse if you so please. Far more accurate to just find Leg L or Leg R, whatever you're trying to do's coordinates and copy/paste them into your new bone's coordinates.
And this was a completely boneless model to show how to make IK bones from scratch.

I really am new at this, PMDE I know how to load models in PMDE but I am already lost at Step 2 and 3
What model did you use here? a no bone model?
or is this a tutorial only for a tail?
Coz I'm trying to put some IK bones on a edited model, and can't find where these bones are after I make them...

Wow... You need like six months to play around before you try something like this, but i'll answer your question.
In the tab where you right clikc to place a new bone, left click the bone you just created. Then in the top right corner of the PMD view window you will find that colorful plus symbol with the blue circle. Click that and it will automatically be on your bone. Then drag the arrows to move the bone.
