Description
I drew this as a gift to a pre-school children and family organization that I had been a part of for several years. But my time for participation is up now, so this was my parting gift for them because they had done so much to help me and my family grow and learn. It was funny, because when I presented it to the council, everyone was all amazed and hadn't known that I was an artist. XD 3+ years of participating and they didn't know I'm an artist. Yeah...I can keep a secret.
People say I should illustrate children's books. I guess I could. If I knew how to get into that, that is.
I freehanded the whole thing, so yes, I know the blocks aren't perfect or all the same size. I did it on purpose. I tried to give it a "timeless" feel by using clothing and hair styles from the '70s. That way, when you look back on it years from now, it'll still have the same feel to it, instead of people thinking its just art that originated from the "modern" times. I like "retro" instead of "modern". *snortlaugh*
Anyway, hope you like it.

This is lovely, and your fellow organization members' delight at discovering your artistic skills must have been a thrill! I like the choices you made in creating the timeless feel, too.

It was kind of funny to me when they were all surprised that I was an artist. Because there were quite a few times, when they were doing orientations or introductions or asking questions about the members in general, that I mentioned that I had an Associates Degree in Multimedia Design and I was an artist. But I guess no one really thought much of it until I actually SHOWED them that I'm an artist. XD Though, really, I never really did any sketches or drawings while at any of the meetings. Just a couple doodles on the margins of the handouts on a rare occasion, but it was always crap like flowers or swirly designs or something. So I can't blame them for not "getting it". I don't care, though. I loved seeing their faces when I pulled this picture out. I'm glad I was able to do this for them.

very kool. I hope you can get into illustrating children's books. that would be awsome. I would buy the books for my children and say i'm best friends with the one who drew the pictures.
