Applejack runs out of her family's barn as her husband returns with their two children from their trip away to take part in the 'Great Dragon migration'Applejack: You're back! oh thank Celestia you're safe
The orange mare hugs Spike tightly as he chuckles
Spike: Haha we were only gone a week. I've left for much longer than that before
Suddenly a small orange head pokes out from behind spikes head
Charlie: Mummy! Mummy it was so awesome! there was dwagons ereywere!
The young dragon pony giggles as she begins to fall off of her father again for the umpteenth time during their trip back
Applejack: Sounds like you had fun
Applejack smiles at her daughter before turning a cold stare on her husband
Applejack: I do hope you didn't run into any dangerous dragons.
Spike: Haha no of course not. AJ don't you trust me to keep our littleΒ gems safe?
Spike kisses his wife on theΒ cheek as she visibly relaxes
Applejack: Of course I do
As she says this the first born child of the couple lands down upon his fathers back unintentionally pushing his sister off. again.
Alex: Mumma! Mumma! Ah' went swimming in Lava! Dadddy taught me how to swim! In Lava!
The orange mare pales greatly as her husband curses at his forgetting to mention to his son not to tell mummy about that
Applejack:.....
Spike: AJ I know that sounds bad b-but he is half dragon and...
Applejack: Half! He is only Half Dragon spike! You didn't know if he would be fine or not! You let him swim in LAVA!!
The dragon winces as the much smaller mare yells at him
Spike: But he was a natural in it
Applejack: But what if he wasn't! He could have...
Applejack looks at her two children who stare back at her before lowering her voice
Applejack: He could have died
Alex: Mumma I'm sorry... I-I didn't know I wasn't allowed to go near the lava... I wont do it again...
Alexander looks up at his mother with big eyes, his ears lowered
Charlie: I'm sorry too mummy...
Charlotte pipes up. Applejack looks between her children and her husband, all three trying to looks as apologetic as they could, and sighs
Applejack: Well I suppose as long as none of you were hurt
She smiles and nuzzles the two children affectionately
Applejack: but next time tell me if you're going to try stuff like that
Spike, Charlie and Alex all nod in unison

AJ can be a very very over protective mother at times, especially when Spike tries to do dragon things with them.
Spike is much more relaxed about stuff though he does still like to keep an eye on his kids when they take part in the Dragon Migration, Older dragons can be very dangerous at times.

One more thing, you've got a few typos in the description. I think you meant to say 'family's barn' instead of "Families barn" for starters, I don't think I need to explain that one, to me it's pretty glaring of a mistake.

No I'm 95% sure I meant families. It might just be that I have bad grammar or maybe we live in different countries and they write english differently. Either way I'm pretty sure that's correct 'Family's' doesn't seem to sit right to me (could be wrong though me and grammar have never gotten along)

"Families"is the plural form of family and "Family's" is a term that denotes belonging to. While grammar isn't my best subject we are on pretty good terms, also poor grammar is a bit of pet peeve of mine (I'm willing let a few errors slip by me when I read a story, but when they get a bit too frequent for my liking I just can't continue with the story).

Yeah spikebloom makes more sense age-wise (I believe anyway, the show seems to treat him like he's about their age) but there's something about this ship that I find far too cute.

Well you could always try that pairing and see which you personally find cuter. Actually, that's something I haven't seen from other artists. AU with different pairing from cannon series characters, they just seem to go with just one pairing for a set of characters because that's what their personal cannon states. Even though I greatly like the Spike and Apple Bloom pairing I also do think the Applejack pairing is cute and I'm willing to admit the Sparity paring can also have its charming moments, I've recently even liking the Spike and Chrysalis pairing (I actually finished a story on FiM Fiction that pairs Spike and Chrysalis, also amusing since it was also my first go at a Clopfic). My point is we can always enjoy more than one set of parings. Although there are certain pairings that I'm unwilling to tolerate (Mostly Mare with Mare pairings that have foals [it's just something that has me "No" out of principle for the time being), anything incest related I just find wrong on an ethical and moral level, and I just don't like the Spike and Twilight romantic pairing (on grounds similar to incest). We all have certain things we don't like, things we really like, and things we're willing to tolerate because while we don't like them we don't find them offensive in some way. But the diversity is still fun to see, especially since each new episode of the series proper brings more possibilities on every level for the fans, and even within fan works themselves.

Well I do mainly ship it because of the story/audiodrama Bride of Discord (went in shipping spike with no one and went out singing Applespike all the way!). Trust me I tried spike with most ships and just didn't really like them, though if I didn't ship him With AJ I probably would just pair him with one of the CMC. Most people do tend to only go with one ship in their next gens because that's what they like. Personally I haven't gone with just one ship all the way with some of my next gen (Β spiderbot1.deviantart.com/art/β¦ These two being the best examples) but that's just me. Shippings just weird in general, I mean I'm a die hard Fluttercord shipper but I also really like Applecord (I blame my chaos Kids AU for that but still)
I think I lost what I was trying to say at one point but I think I was trying to say that yeah I agree that shipping diversity is nice however some people like their ships and won't really go beyond that.
