Description
DEAR LORD IT’S FINISHED…I have seriously been working on this since around 2012 or so; tweaking things and then scraping it over and over again and saving small sections of it AAH.
I’m super happy with how they came out; I FINALLY have a reference for the Crypths!
Here’s a little blurb about them.
Crypths have a matriarchal society. They are led by a group of females with one appointed as the spokesperson of the group; though each member has equal say in every political decision presented to them. Males are not particularly weaker they are just submissive and do everything in their power to appeal to the females. They are normally more lavishly decorated in jewelry than the females are. Some male Crypths that oppose society standards leave their homeland to live among mixed species cities.
Crypth males go through a few times in their lives where they go nearly feral minded because of a burst in hormones that cause them to become more fertile. This becomes the time where most Crypth couples mate and the female has to take care of the male to make sure he doesn’t…hurt himself or others around him with his anger issues. Which sometimes involves making the male stay indoors or wear a loose fitting muzzle to discourage biting. There are however medications that single Crypths; and others that do not wish to go through with the trouble of losing their minds take, that completely eliminate the effects of the hormone imbalance. The medication is provided as a life necessity and given out for free to any males that need it.
It’s custom for a male Crypth to lower their heads in a sign of respect to any female Crypth that stares them in the eye; staring a male crypth in the eye is a show of dominance by a female. Males greet each other by bowing heads and touching ears as their ears are very sensitive and vulnerable parts of their body it shown as a sign of trust.

Thanks a ton!
Yea I always got aye-aye vibes from them too actually haha. It's great having critters that evolve over time as you draw them!

Very well detailed design, also love the detail on how the Females are seen as the leaders and appear dominant(?). Amazing job overall, an awesome specie c:

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
Yea the females are the dominant ones they tend to keep the rowdy boys in their place when they goof off but (most) males are very loyal to the females as well!

Oooh, that's unique. What are the elongated first digits used for, or how did they evolve?

Thank you!
They used to be an arboreal species so the thumbs were used for extra security when hanging from branches. Now they are used as weapons; the claw inside springs out and is pretty long fully extended so they can use them to slash at things or trip things up and I suppose..stab as well haha.

Yaaay, crypths!
Beautiful work indeed, I love their designs - their faces are very unique and nicely designed, and I'm really loving their noses. <3 Those elongated and flexible digits are cool too, and even if this ref took you a lot of time since you first started it, it was totally worth sticking at it since the end result is great!
Also found the details of their culture etc. very interesting. Keep up with all your awesome species!
