Description
THIS IS ALL I USEBoth programs are free and the camera is just a simple $50-$70 (depending where you live) Wal-Mart camera. Now some may ask how I use this equipment to make an animation...Well Guess What I'm here to give you my personal and simplest steps on how to make a simple video animation. Hope this helps you all.
STEPS
1. get some video of a pose or action then save it on the computer...(AVI files work well)
2. open it on quicktime player which is free at this site or any other on google
[link]
3. just copy LAYERS of the video while its paused in quicktime and paste it into gimp.....(gimp you must press the "new layer" button on the layers dialog box after each paste)
4. gimp can be found at the following links.....
Windows: [link]
Mac: [link]
5. then just keep pasteing image by image in gimp then save it as a GIF format which all you do is just add ".gif" at the end of the name of the document then you'll have the option of saving it as an animation or "save as merged"...select animation.....and ta da u made a simple animation
P.S. if u wish to add effect like erasing urself or shooting lighting waves then please do effects before u save it as a "gif".....or either you'll just have a picture that moves which is fine just no super effects...if u dont finish a project then dont worry gimp also has a file type u are able to save to called XCF....so basicly when u saved ur project just add ".xcf" at the end of the name......and u can get back to ur project with no lost data
SUGGESTION: An actual video camera is alot better to use then a digital unless you can set your camera to NOT have auto light setting

not enough folks like you on DA! keep up the great research and keep the animations a comin!
I use an ancient U-lead gif animator 1.0 and am still figuring out how to compress and use the video my lumix is producing.

I love gimp! Funny thing is I found it through my dad, and his nickname is gimp. I've always wondered why it was called that. It is simple and easy, I've just started using it though so I'm not really getting into the animation parts of it.

the animation is simple. As long as you have multiple layers and save it a GIF then you will be givin the option to save it as a flat image or animation. its good for starters.
And my story is quite similar to yours, but i found gimp threw my sister. She however was addicted to myspace photography as I call it..^^

That does sound simple, maybe I'll try it later on this summer. As of late I've been juggling multiple things. ^.^;
Hah, myspace..

Hi there,, one of the few people I look for to really enjoy myself.
It was so kind of you to show how you do your animations, so that other people can have a go,,
BUT I really think you are quite brilliant.. and should be making films for tv , just the ones of you.. you are a natural clown,
very talented, I can't praise you enough, {I've been on Radio, TV etc, I have a good idea about what I'm saying x}
take care
Gea

thank you...ya i always try to let others get a shot. Actually how i got started was that i was what teachers call a dreamer. everytime i would see a cool movie, cartoon, or super power I would say "i wish i could do that" so i found the next best thing for a kid my age. and to find out people like what i can do is "icing on the cake" so to speak. But im really glad to get noticed and get all these new friends from this. SO why not let someone else have a try
