~Hái Nyhla, Flagship of the Idarian Royal 2nd Flotilla circa 2175~
This was a fun project to work on, and i tried a bunch of new stuff with it. Originally did this guy almost exactly a year ago and thought it looked pretty nice, though upon recent inspection it was a mess. The wings for example were separate objects than the hull and had stupid amounts of polygons, so for this the entire hull and wings are one object with only the guns and some bumps being independent. Also made the materials far more detailed and properly UV unwrapped this so I could have the hull pattern and lights which are both part of the textures vs cut into the hull like I did before. Despite having a different name now, it’s still the same ship just with a new look.

After loosing a long and bloody battle against the other powers of the Milky Way, the Idarian Empire was left broken and heavily policed. Decades went by as the previously massively well armed empire made do with diplomacy and internal policing with a single starship. Eventually, sanctions were loosened and the empire was once again allowed to form a navy, mostly if non-combat ships. The Esuma came into being a hundred years later, just as earth was entering the 18th century and was sold as a purpose built exploration cruiser, and definitely not a highly advanced warship. While not original equipped with weapons, it’s power supply was grossly overbuilt to potentially support powerful weapons systems. It’s hull also received extreme sloping surfaces and highly reflective paint along it to be nearly immune to laser fire from head on. Finally the vessel was given the most efficient sub space manipulation drives ever built (devices that exert a force on the fabric of space, allowing movement without propulsion) giving it unparalleled maneuverability even though it was pushing 2 kilometers in length. Following the collapse of the galactic council, the Idarians once again were able to weaponize their fleets and quickly fitted weapons to their 45,000 ship strong navy. The Esuma would be the backbone of all their fleets for the next 400 years as the Idarians went about retaking their original territory.
