I'm back and better than ever! I'm now starting Looney Tunes Month now! In 1927, Hugh Harman created Bosko and intended to make sound films with him even before he left Disney a year later. After leaving Disney (along with several other animators of the Oswald cartoons), he would be working on Oswald with Charles Mintz as the producer until Mintz and the animators were kicked out in 1929. Later that year, Harman would team up with Rudy Ising (from the Oswals days also) to create a pilot film staring Bosko. They would also get their co workers from the Oswald days, Rollin Hamilton and most notably Friz Freleng to animate the short for them. They would pitch the short to numerous producers hoping to make a series with Bosko.

Leon Schlesinger approved of the short and so began the three year run of Harman, Ising and their animators making cartoons for Leon with Warner Bros as the distributor.

Overall, Bosko was a pretty mixed character being either great or boring depending on the short. Still, this was the beginning of the Looney Tunes franchise!
