Early valentine's shit. Because have my mushy couple~ (Also you will not wanna see what they get up to on the 14th ;-; trust me);D; eee finally drew these two again~ Plus lazy shading woo. Terry's making lil' hearts with his powers, go figure. He's startled but ultimately happy; having a spud pop up is a sudden yet cute thing

The colour in this piece looks much better than previously seen from you, and show a building skill in this category. The way they were done makes the piece seem warm and helps to portray the characters' emotions better. You're doing quite well with thought into colour psychology in this piece, even if unconsciously doing so.
In regards to the composition of this piece: the character's posing and faces in tangent with the colour make this piece seem like a warm union (or re-union) of sorts. It makes the context of the scene easily apparent even without an environment to give that idea (although one would still be nice). However, the little speech bubbles and doodles on the sides actually take away from the piece and the emotion given; It's like two conflicting sides.
There are some places where the shading could be improved as you're making the tones too soft all around; if this piece was black and white it would be mostly grey. Making some of the darker shading darker, and the brighter shading brighter will add to the texture in ways that will make everything seem more defined and the piece as a whole more interesting to the eye.
You're still using drawn lines rather than shading to define the texture of the fur and clothes; it leaves the texture department seeming weaker than it could be.
If you were to start thinking of edges and texture as things that could be brought into existence with tones of colour, shade, etc. rather than lines later in the piece, it would drastically improve your technique as a whole.
I think this is one of your best pieces yet, and I really do look forward to seeing more, you just keep improving! If you take this critique meaningfully, you'll be well on your way to losing the need for your thin outlines to distinguish between character, and will be able to do it without drawn lines.

I used an overlay to make the colours of the two characters a bit closer, plus pink ;D;
I struggled to know what to do with them but this worked out alright, so I'm glad to hear that. The bubbles were kinda tacked on last minute so I get what you're saying
I agree, the shading could be much better. Towards the bottom especially. I just wanted to add a bit more to it and threw some on there, so I know I can improve on it.
I'm planning to practice painting soon, so hopefully I can fix all that .o.

P.S. you're too modest about your work, if it was just "lazy shading" as you say then perhaps you should do your "lazy shading" more often. It looks to have improved quite a bit from the shading on the last piece I critiqued: Blind.
