Updated version of these guys;www.deviantart.com/spookapi/ar…
Honestly I'm not super happy with this reference but it will do for now
A lot of the information on their old reference still applies to SharkScales but there are some differences:
- SharkScales have a pretty impressive vocal range, but not so much so they can mimic any sound. They still use humming, calling or clicking sounds underwater to communicate though. when you're near the shore you might hear distant cries of SharkScales if they're making loud enough sounds - pretty eerie.
- SharkScales don't use their calls to lure other dragons, or at least not very often.
- Something I didn't mention in the original reference is that SharkScale's can move their hook dewclaws out from their wrist so they can stab stuff with it. You can kind of see that in this reference.
of course, SharkScales are still just as bloodthirsty as they were before.
Design details:
- The two fins on the back of their head was changed to a single shark fin. So now SharkScales have two shark fins technically. Can't have enough sharkfins.
- Their 'arm fins' are a bit smaller than they were before.
- Tail is different too, more shark-like.
The colors and markings from the past reference still pretty much apply to now.
And the stinging tendrils mutation still exists, and still occurs from the tail and/ or back of head, etc.
also why not list here some notable pod Queens that the SharkScales have?
- There's Queen Bloodwater, somewhat younger compared to the others, but she's inherited control over a pod that's to the West of the thumb of Chimarra. Her pod mostly gets by on the usual fish and has always had to avoid mainland completely around there, due to it's closeness to the dreaded SoarScales. But more recently she and her pod have had some interesting interactions with the local small SoarScale village there - it might even be a... peace???
- Queen Thrashkill rules the largest pod to the North, her pod lurks around the dips and slips in between the fingers time to time for a ShoreScale snack. Her pod is probably the biggest and has been around a long time, living off of the nice seafood there + the juicy dragons. Thrashkill is the oldest Queen and in fact - she's one of the very few (maybe the only) known anima on Chimarra currently. So I'll definitely be getting to her reference eventually.
- Queen Fintear is the largest pod on the East side of the island, she runs a pretty tough pod out in the saltier side of the island where it isn't uncommon for food to get a little scarce. They're rumored to have hunting parties move onto land in the night to hunt land animals when seafood gets hard to find. Of course that's not easy when the land is also a desert, but Queen Fintear's pod didn't get this far by giving up.
- Then surprise King(!) Urchinheart has the largest pod South of Chimarra, his pod also has had to be careful of the surface, due to SoarScales, but his pod tends to be the one who causes a bit more trouble with them. He hates SoarScales just as much as they've always hated him. Usually his pod will stay in the ocean for food, but sometimes a few SharkScales will go through Thenar river and attack any unfortunate fruit eating SoarScale. Originally it was from this pod, that a large number of SharkScales broke off long ago and invaded into the caves of mainland, where they terrorized SlimeScales and then came out on the other desert opening to eat ShadeScales.
anyway, yea
there are other smaller pods outside of these 4 big ones that you can make up for you're own character

No offence, but I kinda likes the old design better, the shark fin on neck is a little too shark like for me. But great design and picture! ^^

no offense but why did you make them change their tribe? they werent similar at all, the only thing they shared was the word siren- the actual designs and concepts were drastically different

Not true. Did you actually read the conversation Spookapi and I had on her old post? Because if you did you'd know that the designs and concepts were pretty much the same more than just the "sirenwing" name. Not only are the looks similar, which I would have let slide if the culture of the creatures had been different, but even the cultures of the two were so identical it was hard to tell them apart. Also she only made the changes that set them apart from my Sirenwings, so the newer versions are different. We both agreed on what changes were enough that they didn't appear as if they were the same tribe. But anyway this is years old now.
