since I'm really bad at putting down all the story stuff I've come up with I'm just gonna cram some in here if you're interested

Chia is Caspian's mother, and also part of the SandWing royal family, which was actually pretty large at the time she got with a certain SeaWing (Surge; who the rest of the family knew, but had no idea he was a prince since he doesn't have the wing markings) and had a hybrid dragonet. She's probably one of the few dragons who easily gets along with Surge's personality.
Chia isn't the most popular among her royal family, somewhat due to her odd look and lack of much interest with the politics - which at the time in the SandWing Kingdom, got pretty intense and and strained among a large family who wanted to share power. What she had to her advantage at least, was that she was about as good at fighting as any other skilled guard, which gave her an excuse to stay around as a trustworthy bodyguard.
Chia probably met Surge as he traveled around training sometimes, to learn how other tribes fought. They sparred, talked and then the rest is history...
Later in the future of my story, when Caspian is a young adult and has some influence over royal affairs despite being a hybrid, all the tension within the SandWing royal family snaps after the new queen finds out about things going on behind her back that weren't supposed to happen along with the IceWing kingdom lowkey collapsing for a spell after terrorist attacks that took something very important away from them - and then they started blaming SandWings for supporting it, because there were SandWing guards in the attack (this is something Caspian might have had to do with but shh)
The newer SandWing Queen at the time (who i should probably give a name at some point) decided to lock away or execute most of the royal family members as swiftly and silently to the public as possible, to cut off any rogues. It happened all in one night, and only one dragon managed to get away - which was Caspian. Maybe I'll go more into where he went and stuff later, but for now I'll just say he was really unhappy with the whole thing and his mother dying too - not to mention that his trust for a certain group he was helping is now shattered.
Anyway, then the SandWing Queen does her best to reestablish trust and clarify the situation with the IceWings as best she can, trying to avoid a potential war. The SandWing Queen agrees to letting the IceWings send some of their guard and high ranking members to the SandWing palace every year to make sure they're really not planning anything, reporting back to the IceWing kingdom once every 2 months or so during their stay. It wasn't intended to last too long, but it ended up lasting a while. It was almost a weird tradition at some point, as young high ranking IceWings wanted to go visit to see the SandWing Kingdom too.

Gypsum is a Sand/Ice hybrid from WOF Hybrid Hell that I did a while ago. Believe it or not I've still been working out the story with them. And Gypsum definitely has changed a bit from her original. She still hatched very pale, but due to the constant desert sunshine she'd been in for her earlier years, she's a bit tanned and she still isn't fond of the heat all that much. She was essentially an orphan from the moment she hatched, but she vaguely remembers an IceWing being there as she hatched, as well as lots of blue blood as he hid her away. Her first year or so was being raised by older orphans in crime as a new member of their 'family'.
The desert is harsh, and she learned quickly it did no help to complain about it, so instead she tried her best to be as proactive as possible into her second year. Gypsum was extremely young, but already got a small cloak for herself that she told the others why she had it is because she 'don't like the sunburnds', but she secretly hid a sharpened knife in it at all times.
One day, some wingless SandWing and some others hunted her down, and after chasing her down and catching her before she could bring out her ultimate weapon, they brought her thrashing and growling to some shack in the middle of nowhere desert (a cooler part at least, to Gypsum's liking). There, she was now forced to be with 3 other prophecy hybrid dragonets or something? Gypsum wasn't very happy about this sudden change from everything she knew before now, but after some time she became curious about the idea of there really being a prophecy around her (even if it wasn't one of the traditional, wordy ones) and even started to be less annoyed at her new friends.
The wingless SandWing actually took care of them for the most part, while two other SandWings went out alot to do things and came back with food and also a Night/Sand hybrid (who had the prophecy about them) who was around quite a bit too. When they were older, their sortaparentsbutnotreally (guardians?) decided to get them into the Jade Mountain Academy so they could actually learn stuff, especially when they started a program specifically to help hybrid dragonets. Anyway, putting all that stuff on the talk more about later maybe list.
Gypsum is cool and she still hide a variety of knives in her cloak at all times just in case. Also she might be related to SandWing royalty but shhhhhhh

Squall is part of the Hybrid Hell prophecy kids, his parents were criminals/murderers/did some messed up things okay, especially his dad, Thresher. Squall doesn't remember a whole lot of the details of his early life with them, but he remembers blood. He doesn't like blood. He doesn't like that apparently he's large and scary like his dad was. Because his dad killed dragons and Squall doesn't want to kill anyone. Luca and Aster (other two prophecy dragonets) tried to get him to play with them, since he always seemed so nervous. Squall always told them no, but one time he
agreed to play tag. It was fun until he accidentally hit Aster too hard and scratched her a little - which he became so sorry from because he was sure she was gOING TO DIE.
Squall just doesn't understand why they're so nice to him sometimes, why they expect that he knows what to do? He doesn't know what others want him to say, why do they expect anything from him?
Then the last dragonet shows up, and she isn't really nice like everyone else. Oddly enough, Squall finds this more comforting than the politeness - and later on Gypsum actually tells him what he should do, not just suggest things. (Maybe it's just because she's more blunt? Squall doesn't really
care, he just listens to it better). At some point Gypsum got really, really sick, and right there Squall decided he wanted to do everything he could do protect her - or just like, do something for her - help her. It was a weird feeling, almost kind of scary, but he thought it would be nice. Protecting dragons is nice, right? He tells Gypsum this, and she's a bit confused/concerned at first but decides he can be her bodyguard if he really wants to.
Now Squall follows her around a lot at the academy, and will use his intimidating appearance to protect her from bullying if necessary. But he starts to realize that protecting her might really involve fights, which could lead to blood, and maybe he might accidentally...

Luca, I love you but this is gonna be brief because aaa
Luca is a Sea/Night Hybrid whose mom gave him up to the Singe and Stardust without hesitation. He and Aster grew up completely together and are basically siblings.Honestly, he's bad at focusing on all the prophecy stuff because he's more interested in looking at all other dragons minds and what they're like.
There's definitely more to Luca's story from here, but I hope to get to that later one day.

Thresher is Squall's father, and he's a pretty scary guy but he does love his mate and son. When some SandWings ambush their hideout, steal his child and kill his wife, you could say Thresher was a little peeved. In fact he was going to find a way to kill every dragon involved in this as he could, and to take his son back from them. And that's what he does. Or tries to at least. He might get a little thwarted at the end shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh boy, Glaze
So to add some context to this storyline I've come up with that's meant to be in the future (probably a non-pantala future), the IceWings actually were gifted back Animus powers into their royalty by another Animus (probably a NightWing?), but it isn't quite like genetic or inheritable Animus powers - it's more like a curse in a way. The IceWing Queen is made an Animus under all the rules written for the power (no way to remove the power or other animus powers, no way to give animus powers, etc.) and the idea is that whenever there is a battle for the throne, where no power can be used, if the daughter succeeds in killing the Animus cursed Queen, now she as the new Queen is cursed Animus. The curse itself is made in a way so that any dragon under it wouldn't be inclined to cast too many spells if they don't have too, because in this curse the Animus power is written to damage your soul the more you use it. So while natural Animus powers are debatable whether or not they corrupt the Animus' soul - this curse should in theory actually do so.
Things went well for a while, now with their long lost Animus power finally back to some extent. But then a Queen died, and her only daughter disappeared with SandWing Guards and apparently other dragons taking her away near the border of the kingdom.
That Princess was not Glaze, just to clarify. but eventually a random, dragonet found she apparently had Animus power. She has no idea how she ever got them or if she just doesn't remember how she did? This dragonet was Glaze and she kept her powers a secret (duh) and barely used them to not be suspicious. Fun fact; Glaze is actually Spearmint's (Rain/Ice) half-sister. Anyway Glaze ends up being one of the two IceWing's who manage to come to the Jade Mountain Academy through all the Animus drama stuff happening in the kingdom. Of course she used a little Animus magic just to go, but she really wanted to so she's excited to look around and learn about other tribes.
Glaze may or may not get a little carried away later in the story. She also might really crush on a really cool and tough SeaWing. Glaze may or may not go too far trying to get her affection. Glaze may or may not get killed...
but yknow, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
(also, yes there is an actual explanation to how Glaze got the curse, but i'll tell that laterrrrrrrr)
