Really like the details in this. Very nice. Makes me think about how the neural transmitters in our eyes take bits of information, process them, then our brain outputs the image. The image we see is only what's necessary for us to perceive at that time and so the rest - or the incomplete parts - are what's not in our peripheral vision/not fully processed in our brains yet.

Thankyou! and thats a very interesting interpretation, I like it ^.^ I tend to draw key parts/ the most important details of things when I draw like this. Maybe that could relate to our brains only processing what we concentrate on, to the point that everything else is out of focus

Likewise, thanks for the favs. I really appreciate it. (^_^)
Interesting. Aside from the main idea, what would you consider to be important details/how do you figure out which details are important to the piece?
Exactly. And our vision does exactly that, too, like the camera focusing what's in the foreground and everything behind if being fuzzy.

You're welcome! ^.^
And its usually the feature I want a viewers eye to be drawn to, in this case I tried to centralize the meeting of the two horses faces. I picked that detail rather than just drawing Daisy (the big one) because my friend photographed them like this because it was the first time they had ever met. That was the first contact they had ever had with each other and it went surprisingly well. So I suppose I consider the context of what I draw to be am important indicator for what I will focus on as well.
Taking it a step further, I could say that the area of detail also represents what it is that the horses themselves were concentrating on too.

I see. That makes sense. Your intent very much influences the execution. It's literally putting your soul into it. I like that.
I still have trouble figuring out what I want to do with my pieces. Too often I find myself staring at the paper and seeing images in it that I want to draw. Very seldom will I have an idea before-hand. I think that's why I struggle with composition so much.

Oh I struggle with that all the time too.
I find a helpfull thing to do is work backwards from something abstract, i have a whole stack of different types of paper splatted in various ways with ink or watercolour so when I feel uninspired I can draw into it or make it into something.

I've tried doing that, funny or not. It definitely does work sometimes. Like you, I have a pile of half-finished works that need some aging before they're ripe for the intricate work to be put in. Thanks
