First drawing of 2015, and it's almost a month late. Shit, the moving process is so stressful and time consuming.
Anywho, yes! A new self portrait and a bit of a tribute to the great Berkeley Breathed's fantastic comic strip, Opus the Penguin. I was reading several of his comics (which Livi owns ~
) to try and escape the constricting agony of having to pack up everything again, and I just couldn't help myself. I needed some distraction and inspiration, and I saw a lot of myself in that cute, chubby little penguin. Plus it was utterly entertaining to read satirical material from the 1980s. I was born in the 80s, but raised in the 90s, after all, and as such, I'm getting on in years. 8/So, I decided to depict it, using a little penguin in denile as a model and inspiration. Also, I had never attempted to depict Berkeley's style anyway, so two birds one stone. I don't like how it came out, but what can you expect when you're constantly feeling like crap?
Here's hoping after this god awful move something better comes along. (Yeah right, look who's talking.

Easily one of my favorite strips, even if I was born and raised outside of the decade. All four incarnations are great, even if the later ones lost the great ensemble set-up that County had.Β
Sorry for the fangasm, but I just had one of those realization moments where I immediately knew what this was referencing.
Anyway, I wish you well on your move.
